The 1969 Chevrolet Corvette was only the second model year for the C3, which Chevy produced from 1968 through 1982, so the 1969 Stingray coupe being offered for sale here is pretty early in the C3 run. 1969 was also the only year that factory-installed side exhaust pipes were ever an option on the C3, and the fact that this Vette came with these is definitely a plus. If you’ve been in the market for a late 60s Corvette project, this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette might be worth taking a look at. Located in Foxboro, Massachusetts, it can be found here on eBay with bidding up to $13,500 at the time of this writing. Barn Finds wants to thank reader Larry D. for another great tip on this one.
From the looks of things, it appears that somebody began dismantling this car for restoration but didn’t get very far. We aren’t given much history about the car or how long the current owner has had it, and there’s a conundrum in the listing where it says that the vehicle comes with nearly all the parts, but that statement is followed by the next sentence saying that the seller is sure there is stuff missing. I’d probably ask what specifically does and does not come with the car before I made a commitment, or better yet see the car and parts in person.
Some good news is that this Corvette left the factory with a Big Block 427 cubic inch V8, which the seller says is numbers matching. The car is said to be running and can be moved around a yard, however, it is not road-worthy as there are no brakes. There’s also a 4-speed manual transmission, so in spite of needing an extensive restoration, this is a pretty desirable C3.
Inside, it looks like there are a few things missing, most obviously the radio and steering wheel center. The tilt and telescopic steering column is not currently in the car, but the seller does have it. Some other equipment includes power steering, power brakes, power windows, and air conditioning, although the A/C compressor is missing.
More good news is that the frame is said to be in excellent condition and was sandblasted at some point in time. The eBay listing includes 3 photos of the underside, and things don’t look too bad under there. While it does need a lot of work, this Corvette looks like a pretty good candidate for restoration, especially being a Big Block 4-speed. It also comes with a clear title. What are your thoughts on this 1969 Chevrolet Corvette? What do you think is a reasonable price to pay for what you are getting here?
If the frame was sandblasted, it means it had the frame off at some point and has already gone through that restoration. Birdcage anyone? Could be in the middle of it and the guy got tired of it. Engine is a mix match of pieces at the moment. Distributor is wrong and the wires are a mess. Looks like the body work flared in the wheels, so that will need to be addressed. Hood is an L88 style hood. Can’t tell if the snorkel part is on there. But nothing funner than driving a big block Vette!
Both leading edge door gaps are a mess. Front clip most likely has been replaced.
Could also be a bent frame. You need to be careful with a mid year and a c3, the frames are as rigid as a wet noodle. Jack a big block car on the side between the tires, you have a bent frame
