Listed here on eBay, this 1990 Chevrolet C/K1500 454 SS is one of those rare trucks that helped define an era. Showing just 58,738 original miles, it’s powered by the same 7.4-liter V8 that made these trucks legends in the first place. This particular example wears its factory black exterior over a maroon bucket seat interior and is described by the seller as very well maintained with a clean title and strong running condition.

Chevrolet’s 454 SS debuted for the 1990 model year as a muscle truck built for the street. Under the hood sits the 7.4-liter (454 cubic-inch) big-block V8, paired with an automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The seller notes that the engine starts easily, idles smoothly, and pulls strong, delivering the unmistakable torque these trucks are known for.

The listing emphasizes that this truck has been well cared for and remains in excellent condition for its age. The black paint is described as having a deep shine with clean body lines, and it rides on Cooper Cobra white-letter tires mounted to its factory sport wheels, the exact look that gave these trucks their aggressive, no-nonsense stance.

Inside, the maroon interior features the signature bucket seats with a center console, one of the defining touches that set the 454 SS apart from a standard C1500. The interior appears clean and original, showing signs of careful ownership and maintenance rather than neglect or modification.

With fewer than 60,000 miles, this truck remains a strong survivor from the early days of the sport truck movement. It offers a balance of performance and simplicity that’s become increasingly appealing to collectors who remember when the 454 SS first hit the streets. The seller describes it as running and driving great, with that unmistakable big-block rumble and plenty of power on tap. It’s ready to drive, show, or tuck away in a collection as a piece of American truck history.

The 454 SS remains one of the most iconic performance pickups ever built, bold, loud, and unapologetically powerful. Trucks like this one continue to grow in popularity as enthusiasts rediscover the appeal of late-’80s and early-’90s muscle trucks that weren’t just about hauling, they were built to move.
Would you preserve this low-mile 454 SS as a collector’s piece or take it out to remind the world what a real muscle truck sounds like?

Chevy’s ad for this stated:
Weak men tremble
Young girls avert their eyes
Ford dealers faint
Always wanted to own one of these but not likely in this lifetime. I envy the lucky new owner.
This is listed in the dealers website for $44,900.

*Yawn* These didn’t have that much power. Had a ’97 Dually with the 454. Torque it had. Horsepower, not so much. Nice looking truck, but its just a truck.
Yup are right, they looked great, especially in black, their real world performance was lacking.

I agree! I had a 76 Cadi that spanked 3 or 4 of these 454SS trucks, 2 of them from a dead dig but all of them from a 30 roll. They gave my Cadi a good run, but my Cadi was still the winner by over a car length in every race.
Almost bought one of these new when I got out of the Marine Corps, but the engine was kind of a dog and not the beast I was told it was by the dealer. Passed then, and would pass now, but GLWS.
Have a 99 cc dually with 454. Wouldn’t say it has much torque either.
Nice truck!
Not a legend, overpomised and underperforming.
Never pass a filling station.
A close friend had one of these , bought it brand new, loved it but always said it didn’t feel very fast , a tree fell on it in a storm and crushed it, totaled by the insurance company . He shopped around and couldn’t find another new one so instead he ordered one brand new except the SS option had passed so he “settled” for one with a 5.7 . He said the 5.7 felt twice as fast as the 454 did.
My brother has one from new, with almost zero miles. I wonder what it’s worth now.
Truck was understood to be low on power from the start. HOWEVER, all of the foundation was in place to easily make this rig a true muscle truck! 14 bolt locking rear axle, early models had the beefy turbo 400 transmission, later models had the even stronger 4l80E. The package also included a quicker response steering box, larger antisway bar, higher range speedometer, etc. You are not likely to find an easier vehicle for swapping out the motor if you want more power. I have a 92 model with a 700 horse 496 big block in an otherwise stock truck, GREAT FUN!!!
Had a 20k mile 90 model in mid 90s and bought a Whipple charger for this specific engine (454 with throttle body) but 3.73 gearing and TH 400 was very uncomfortable to drive any distance. Kept it local and had a lot of fun!
Not quick stock, but not difficult to fix that.
I had a 1990 and a 1993. The ’93 had a 700r4 instead of the 3 speed and was more highway friendly
nice but not that nice at the dealer price
Clean SS for certain, it’s a shame the tonneau cover was installed, over 50 holes were drilled into the bed for the cover snaps. Thankfully they have improved the way tonneaus mount these days.
They had the good tonneaus back then, it was way cheaper to drill and install snaps.
But most people back then didn’t know enough to preserve those holes they just drilled for that cheap cover. Cost thousands now to fix.
Legend? Ford 351 Lightnings were quicker!
C/K 1500 just designates the body style and that it is a 1500 (1/2 ton) According to the VIN it is a 2wd truck. It’s also in Ocoee Florida. Just thought thatI would toss that info in as it was not included in the text.
Nice truck(mainly because it’s GM), but had one and it was doggish.
A little pricey for what you get, but there’s a saying;
Something’s worth whatever somebody’s willing to pay for it.”
NOT A MUSCLE TRUCK ONLY 220 H P NICE TRUCK BUT NOT A LOT OF POWER . FORD GOT IT RIGHT WITH THE 351 LIGHTNING
C = 2 wheel drive
K = 4 wheel drive
Bow Tie Boys should made it 10 years later with the 8.1 and Allison auto 5-speed…
Now that truck might have had some nuts…
I have a 2003 GMC crew cab woth the 8.1 and Allison transmission. 3/4 ton and not a 1/2 ton. Very pleased with the 10 to 12 MPG empty and 8 mpg dragging the 5th wheel. My 2006 Chevy 1500HD crew cab with the 6.0 was 10 mag empty and 8 pulling the same 5th wheel. It does a better job at 1,000 less RPM. So I bought a larger 5th wheel.
