Full-size muscle cars have developed a pretty loyal following lately, especially the ones that still feel more like street machines than polished trailer queens. This 1966 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe listed on eBay seems aimed directly at that crowd. The seller describes it as a “hotrod driver” rather than a finished show car, and the combination of a 396 big block, automatic transmission, bucket seats, and claimed low mileage gives it a very old-school street cruiser vibe.

According to the listing, this Impala shows 44,000 miles, which the seller believes to be original. It’s also described as a two-owner car. Finished in white over a tan interior, the car is presented as a mostly rust-free Western car that has been upgraded over time rather than kept completely factory stock.

Under the hood sits a 396 cubic-inch V8 with several modifications mentioned throughout the ad. The seller says the engine features a performance camshaft, aluminum intake manifold, tuned 750 CFM carburetor, HEI distributor, headers, and dual Flowmaster exhaust. Front disc brakes have also been added. The listing makes it pretty clear this Impala was built more for driving and sound than factory-correct restoration points.

The seller repeatedly emphasizes the personality of the engine, describing the exhaust note and idle quality in enthusiast terms. At the same time, they’re upfront about the fact that the car may still need some tuning and sorting. The ad specifically mentions it being cold-natured during warmup and suggests future adjustments could involve cooling, timing, or other tuning work. That honesty actually makes the listing feel a little more grounded than some overhyped muscle car ads.

The transmission is described as a reliable automatic that shifts crisply, while the car itself is said to run and drive well overall. Inside, the Impala features factory-style bucket seats along with auxiliary gauges mounted under the dash and a tachometer attached to the steering column. The seller calls it a “driver’s car,” also noting that it retains manual steering and manual brakes aside from the front disc conversion.

Cosmetically, the seller describes the paint as older driver-quality paint, possibly dating back to the 1990s, with normal imperfections. They also say the chrome and trim present well in driver condition. Rather than overselling the appearance, the listing leans more into the idea that this is a usable big-block cruiser someone can continue improving over time.

The wheel and tire setup adds to that period muscle car image too. According to the ad, the Impala sits on American Racing Torque Thrust wheels wrapped in Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires.

What’s interesting about cars like this is that they occupy a different lane than restored SS cars or investment-grade muscle. This feels more like the kind of Impala somebody built to enjoy locally, take to cruise nights, and occasionally crack the secondaries open leaving a stoplight.

I’m not sure I’d call this a sleeper, those typically fly under the radar, without calling out their performance potential. This seller is a quasi dealer, he sells a lot of cars, this is the 3rd time he’s run this car through eBay. As for his description, the fuel line is located where you’d find a Holley 600 vacuum secondary, not a typical 750, 1/4” fuel line, has stock exhaust manifold and an old single plane intake it has an 8.2” rear end, this is more of a cruiser than anything.
