Blank Canvas: 1955 Chevrolet 210

The owner of this 1955 Chevrolet 210 had begun the process of transforming it into a pro-street, but sadly, he recently passed away. It has now been left to his brother to settle the estate, so the Chevy has to go. The photos are not the best, but if what you see is enough to motivate you, then you will find the 210 located in Westminster, Maryland. It has been listed for sale here on eBay, and bidding has reached $4,250 in a No Reserve auction.

The seller says that the Chevy has been buried at the back of this barn for many years, so getting to it to obtain decent photos has been difficult. The car does have some rust in the floors and a couple of other spots, but none of it appears to be too severe. It looks like repairs had commenced on some of these areas because it appears that the firewall has a new section welded in. The seller says that he is unsure of exactly what is present and what is missing, but he has found another hood and some fenders, and they will go with the car. It really looks like the only piece of body damage that is going to take some time and patience to address is this dent in the roof. That is a wide expanse of steel, so getting it right will be imperative if the car is to present well.

The interior of the 210 is a bit of a mixed bag, and it is hard to tell what is there, and what’s missing. What we can see of the dash looks quite good, but the wheel and steering column is believed to have originated from a Camaro. It isn’t clear just what, if any, interior trim is present, but what can be seen is what appears to be a few rust repair pieces. These will go with the car, and the seller also says that any other ’55 parts that are located when the barn is cleared out will also be included in the sale.

The engine bay of the Chevy is empty, and it isn’t clear just what resided here in the first place. The car is little more than a roller today, with no engine or transmission included in the sale. What is included is a 4-link rear end that is currently sitting in the trunk. I suspect that this was purchased as part of the planned mechanical upgrades that never eventuated. There is a possibility that other parts will be included, but once again, this will depend on what is located when the barn is emptied.

This 1955 Chevrolet 210 really is a blank canvas, and I can see what the late owner was trying to achieve with the car. If he had managed to complete the project, it could have been a really interesting car. That potential is still there, and it just needs the right person to realize it. Could that person be you?

    A 55 hardtop for a potential builder.

Wow someone butchered the dash to put round gauges within it. I see its Missing the radio speaker cover.
My suggestion would be to drop a crate motor and-scour ebay for interior. Then plate and fill holes in dash and get reproduction dash chrome.

I had a black 55 no post like this in HS.
I will check the old title against my old vins for one in a Million shot 🤔😂

VIN indicates it was delivered with a 6 cylinder engine. Cars with the then new Ed Cole 265 V8 had a VIN that began with V

That dash could be put back to stock by a good metal guy. Don’t see a lot of the hard top ’55s in good condition any more. Bought right this could be good project.

    GM offered BelAir 2dr. and 4dr. HT’s along with a 210 2dr. HT in 57 but I have never seen or heard of a 210 2dr. HT. In 55 or 56.

Yes, there were 11675 210 dr. ht’s made in 55. My first car was a 55 BelAir 2dr. ht in 1963 and have 55 150 sedan in the garage now and a fair amount in between and never knew a 210 ht. was offered until today!!

The Hardtop body styles were available in the 210 and Belair models in 55, but not in the 150’s. My grandmother had a 56 “210” four door htp. and I had a 210 just like this in h/s. I lived very near where this car is at that time, I would be checking VIN myself except mine was the V8 option. This looks like a good project, wish I could take it on. Lots of memories from those days.

Sorry to see that the owner didn’t get to see his project finished. Might be a good project. I agree with Bob hess. Best way to do this would be to contact the owner, get a good honest look at the underbelly and work with the seller. Seems like an honest but unfortunate circumstance. IMHO. Good luck to the new owner. The right deal would be a great score.

The 55 was my favorite of the tri 5’s!! The front bumper was simply and so was the grill! Just a cleaner look in my opinion!! I got a rebuilt 396 on my engine stand that’s been waiting for a car like this!!!
