This 1980 Jeep still smacks of 1970’s styling, but the look is also timeless. This particular Jeep has the Renegade package which is obviously called out by the large graphics. Found here on eBay with an asking price of $16,900, the Jeep is listed for sale by Worldwide Vintage Autos in Denver, Colorado. What makes this Jeep so special is the low mileage and amazing condition. Check it out!
Like the rest of this Jeep, the interior looks amazing. According to the ad, there are less than 70,000 miles on the odometer. Unfortunately, there is no information regarding the history and/or restoration of this Jeep. It appears to be in fantastic shape and is almost a time capsule to the past.
The engine is a 258 cubic inch straight six with an automatic transmission. The automatic transmission will turn off some buyers, but I don’t think it hurts this particular Jeep. Most buyers will probably use this jeep sparingly or for the occasional cruise. Not much chance of it being altered into an off-road beast where a manual transmission would be more desirable. Do you think having an automatic hurts this vehicle?
This Jeep is a CJ7 which has a longer wheelbase than its CJ5 cousin. The BFGoodrich tires and aftermarket wheels look right at home, although a purist may want to install a set of stock steel wheels with small tires if they intend to compete for survivor trophies.
17k for a 40 year old car? I don’t know about that. Dealer mark up crap.
Those wheels just do not look right on that Jeep… Need to either get a factory, or factory looking, set or maybe slotted mags or something… JMO.
Anything’s possible. My grandpa parked his ’67 Camaro RS convert in his garage in 1974, and it didn’t see the light of day until 1981, when he passed. It only had 18k on it. Our Granny never had a license…or she would’ve…
Aaaand, if anyone wants me to take a peek at it, I’m a mechanic who lives in Denver.
There’s no point buying a Jeep, just to drive around town, unless of course, the town has lots of dirt roads! These things are meant to get dirty, exploring backroads.
If you drive anywhere west for about 30 min, Denver has all dat!
But yes, I totally understand that these things were not meant to battle for parking lot supremacy at IKEA.
Wait, I take that back ( from the Toyota, Nova posts) there’s California, Texas, AND Colorado, and the rest of the world. Colorado is close behind California with their 4 digit rentals (and probably Texas, too, why not) and their off the wall prices. ( I’m sorry, I’m going to complain about these crazy prices until I get booted off the site, someone has to). This is one sharp CJ, probably the nicest one made, but even for Colorado, self proclaimed home of the 4 wheel drive, this is double what they go for,( nice, and I mean NICE CJ’s can be had for $6g’s all day, there’s plenty of them) and I keep tabs on CJ’s here, just in case someone wants to trade my ’77 GMC for one, and judging by the price of a beater square body Chevy short box coming up,( $7,500) I just may be able to do that soon.
I have a 92 Jeep, Sahara addition with all the options. It never leaves the pavement, has 52K miles on it and I love keeping it looking as close to new as I can and clean. We don’t all want to beat our Jeeps to death.
I’ve been to their warehouse and there is a reason why there is no info regarding the history and/or restoration of this vehicle: they most likely don’t have it and don’t care – their business model is about selling vehicles. As you would treat any dealer/flipper, don’t make a buying decision based on the photos and/or description posted on their site – if you can’t do a personal inspection, pay somebody qualified to do it for you. Caveat emptor.
Finding another one in this condition is the proverbial needle in a haystack. Great time capsule.
