Sure, a split window (1963) would be great, but if I were in the market for a classic Corvette I’d probably look for a late sixties car with a big-block and a 4-speed. The Corvette may be considered America’s sports car, but let’s all admit it – the dang thing was a muscle car! So, why not have a proper one? Well, here’s your chance to get the car I described on the cheap! It’s not going to be easy though. The complete car you see in the photo is actually a ’72, but the eBay auction here includes a ’69 frame that was originally fitted with a big-block and a 4-speed. Of course, you will have to source those and then figure out how to get it all under the car, but the end result would surely be entertaining! What do you think – would you be able to achieve the goal the seller only dreamed about?
I’d think that the ’69 frame, if really that clean (and it looks it) would be worth the current $3400 bid…..
That’d save a ton of work for someone who is restoring one.

There are MANY uses for that ’69 frame and MANY bodies that could be mounted to it. Add any number of big-block powerplants and you wind up with VERY nice driver to be enjoyed

That was a great deal. FYI the c2 and c3 automatics had a bolt in trans cross member while the stick was welded so going auto to stick wasn’t an issue except for originality.
Sold at the $3400 mark.

About 10 years ago, I belonged to a group of local C3 owners that would get together on occasion to talk about and work on our cars, and drink beer.
One guy (the host) was building a project similar to this – had a great frame built up and was pulling off all the good stuff from a rotted frame / birdcage car.
Last I heard, the project is at about the same stage as it was back then. Life gets in the way.
This project can yield a great result, but be prepared to spend a lot of time on it.

Would not believe what it looks like when I got it in april 2018.. by October it was painted and I was daily driving it with engine cleaned up with new intake etc. Slowly did more… now in 2020 it has all interior and a new 406 sbc side pipes etc.. the secret is to do SOMETHING daily. You can’t let it wait
