Floorboards show no signs of rust but, unfortunately, this one is toast. This is a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan that is for sale in the Washington, DC area and can be seen here on Copart. The Lambo was originally green and is available for purchase by the brave or someone who wants to say they have a Lamborghini in their garage. We appreciate Ian C. bringing this car to our attention.
The car probably looked like this at one time before catching fire like a marshmallow over a campfire. Introduced in 2014, the Lamborghini Huracan boasted a 602 horsepower V10 engine with four wheel drive. With a mid engine layout and a curb weight of 3,400 lbs, the Huracan can reach 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and complete the quarter mile in 10.4 seconds. It also apparently reaches 500 degrees when set on fire.
The interior of a Huracan featured fully electric seats with heat and electric backrest. Do you think this started as an electrical fire? Most cars had a two-tone leather decor with the usual navigation, Bluetooth and infotainment features. Some Huracans were ordered with Dynamic Steering to improve steering feel and could be adjusted to normal, comfort or racing.
Now is your chance to buy one of the world’s most impressive performance cars. The angle above is from the rear of the car which is what most people would see if this is parked in your garage. What do you think this will sell for and who is likely to buy such a crispy critter?
Might salvage the titanium exhaust. (If what is left of the car will let go of it) What’s that worth?
A buck two eighty.
Funny, my dad used to use a similar line, a dollar two ninety eight whenever my brother or I asked him the price of something. He bought a new impala convertible in 62. My little brother, eight at the time pestered him on how much it cost. Finally my dad said “a dollar two ninety eight”. Five seconds didn’t go by and my brother was on the back porch yelling up the alley to his friends, my dad got a new car, it cost….. thanks for making me smile, remembering both of them that are gone now.
Can’t believe I don’t remember grand dad using that one. I think I heard it a time or two but had forgotten it. Gonna start using it myself now. Thanks for that.
Thanks for the laugh…
Accidents can happen to any vehicle, even super cars, but when you look at what was and what is, that hurts a heck of a lot more than if it was normal 2015 vehicle in this condition.
For sale??? They are kidding right??
Nope. Parts and vin tag have worth. My wild guess….. It might go for as much as 18000.
This reminds me of the steak my wife cooked for me this weekend.
Just tell her – Tbsp of oil in a super hot cast iron pan with a lot of salt in it, 4 minutes on side one, 4 minutes on side two, then into a 300 degree oven for 15 – 20 minutes. Easy peazy.
4 minutes on a side, then another 15-20 minutes in the oven? Gross… it’s shoe leather at that point.
800 degree grill, under 2 minutes per side. Nice sear on the outside, cool and red on the inside.
I got a chuckle out of looking at the Copart listing. In the details it says “Color: Green.” Unless someone told them, it is quite hard to tell….
Estimated value according to the ad is $179,711 (Before the car got roasted) The seller won’t even get $1.79 for it in it’s current condition.
Pass.
Not Green anymore – now; Charcoal Gray. I really don’t understand why even going through the hassle of advertizing it, regardless of what it used to be. Recycle it. Done
(facepalm)
Looks better now than when new.
Son beats these on road courses. Film at 11.
These drivers, more money than driving ability.
Ran when involuntary parked!
Better get a parts list together if you need it for the weekend.
Perhaps, if you approach this one as an archaeological dig, removing all of the light-weight carbon fiber material and getting down to the bare bones, you may discover metal componentry that hasn’t reached their melting point (titanium, aluminum, etc.). With the surviving remains, there could possibly be some worth to creative souls…🤔 Continue to innovate not duplicate…
That’s the “Crostini Bruciati Spyder” model, isn’t it?
Amazing what you find on BARN Finds.
If this is what the car looks like, I’d hate to see the barn.
Now THAT’S a Car-B-Q !!
Yard Art?
That was a really “hot car” once. For about an hour.
Jimmy Hoffa’s high school ring is in the boot.
The reason it’s for sale is the Insurance company that paid out on the loss is trying to recover something to offset the payoff. Co-Part is a major salvage yard that some insurers use. It’s just business.
This will sell for at least 5 large.
HA, Burn Find, that’s gold! Nice work, Bruce!
I want to see a picture of the person/fool who would buy this for 18K. I got this bridge I really need to sell………
What, no paint meter readings??
Just right for the conasuriers of burnt rubber and fiberglass.
It might have been due for a belt change and valve lash adjustment.
Can someone clarify the concern about the VIN # on a vehicle such as this? I get the concern about older rides that have birth dates which precede the modern Carfax era and cars that switch hands between 2 private parties, but how could someone use the VIN on this car in a fraudulent manner given the fact that it is now documented to be on a salvage title and if purchased from Copart, the transfer would be documented as such? Not to mention that an insurance company had to be involved as well?
Keep in mind that it gets a salvage title ONLY if there was a claim to an insurance company. Likewise there is a report on CarFax only if there is a claim to an insurance company.
If there is an accident and the owner fixes the car out of pocket, without involving an insurance company, there isn’t necessarily an acknowledgement of the accident.
I am not saying that’s what happened here just realize that it is possible for a vehicle to be in an accident – even totaled – and still be represented with a clean title.
In this case it is likely that the insurance company is trying to see what they can get for the burned out hulk to recoop a portion of their losses. But if there was no insurance on the car (who does that on a Lambo?) or the owner did not contact the insurance company it is possible that the owner is trying to cover a bit of loss themself.
Thanks for the reply. I was already aware of what you stated. However, does not the fact that Copart now has title to it obligate them to sell the car under a salvage classification when ownership is transferred regardless of whether insurance was involved?
@mark I see there is not enough room to answer you below so I’ll try doing it here. You raise a really good question. If Copart has the title are they obligated to sell it as a salvage vehicle. Look at it! That thing is the ultimate definition of salvage. Honestly, I dont know what the obligation is buy a seller and even if Copart has the paper title I doubt that they bothered to title the car in their name. So…..my *guess* is that the sale between buyer and seller is just that a sale of goods. However, when someone tries to drive it or represent it to an insurance company I think they have to represent it truthfully so as to avoid fraud.
Years ago I moved from Maine (where insurance wasn’t required) to Michigan where it was. I walked from my house to an insurance company and attempted to purchase insurance with all relevant paperwork. To avoid fraud that was not possible without a visible inspection.
The Firenado model.
DIY gang in Conn. can fix this heap. Check out the Hellcat he fixed. YouTube.
I wonder how much Lamborghini was charging for their optional fire extinguisher?
I’m sure in hindsight it seems pretty cheap, now.
For sale for scrap value?
Turnkey condition, love it!
I can say that I have (2) Lambo’s in my garage for a whole lot less $$$’s!!!
… ahhhh, but they are a pair of aluminum snow skis hanging in my garage that Lamborghini made back in the late ’60’s.
Some guy with big bucks and a huge mancave, will buy it just so he can hang it on the wall.
Whoops. Ran when parked…
Most likely rapping the throttle and the back caught fire. That’s what I saw on some YouTube videos…crispy critter.
I’ve seen the same videos and I keep thinking that they banned the Ford Pinto for exploding when rear-ended but it’s okay for a $250,000 car to catch fire because I rev it too much?
Wow…..
Too bad it doesn’t come with keys. The fob(s) may also have some value :-)
It’ll buff out…….
That was my car. Had a garage fire and no one got hurt. They write you a check and come pick up the car. The ask for the title and the key. I told them the key was in it. If it was your car you wouldn’t want to keep it on this condition as garage art.
Sorry for your loss!
I hope that the garage was otherwise empty, and detached from your house….
Thanks. 2020 Jeep Gladiator and a 54 Chevy rat rod and tools for days in a detached garage.
Dang dude. Bummer. Smoke damage to a house can be just about as bad as the fire itself. Pretty much ruins everything remaining behind. Sorry for the destruction you incurred.
Yep. Thankfully it was detached and the fire didn’t take our home.
I forgot to bring the marshmallows!!!!
Tim, It already looks like a burnt marshmallow.
I’ll give you $5 for this POC. I’m probably paying too much at that.
What a shame…….
The residue of some burned plastics used in modern cars is carcinogenic.
Wouldn’t want to touch it, really.
I know us car guys are crazy but come on !
Lamburntghini
The reason for a lot of these fires are the fact that the owners in order to get attention will take it to the rev limiter and dump a bunch a fuel while just in traffic.
That fuel ignites. Tons of videos of Lambo fires, and it’s always after as show-off session. Like the squids that redline their sportbikes to the rev limiter.
A bright green lambo gets tons of attention without reving.
Thank you Zarp for joining in. Sorry for your loss. You are to be commended for providing the info and for enduring our (mostly) poor attempts at humor. It is certainly not on your scale, but I had a collector car totaled in an accident a few years ago, and emotionally it was not a pleasant experience.
The jokes are great. Lambo and Jeep are replaceable. 54 Chevy and garage with 2 generations of tools are also replaceable. With 4 young daughters that is my takeaway.
The engine has to be worth at least 5 grand!
Sad. Just crush it
