California Driver: Shelby GT350 Mustang

d2

Unlike many Shelby Mustangs, which seem to be put away and not enjoyed, this car has been driven and is in condition to continue that activity going forward. It’s located in Cardiff by the Sea, California and is listed for sale here on eBay by it’s third owner (despite them calling it a two-owner car, one of my pet peeves). Bidding is up to just over $50,000 as I write.

d1

There is no doubt that great photography helps to portray a car in its best light, and it doesn’t get much better than this shot! Don’t you just want to hop in and drive away (perhaps after turning the radio on–then again, the burble of the V8 might be even better)! This car has been in California it’s entire life and it shows.

d3

Closeups of the beautiful paint don’t hurt either. The seller says there was one repaint during the long-term second ownership period. It looks like it was a good one! Original Shelby wheels help the look as well.

d5

The interior looks nicely used–not brand new, but certainly not abused! Pretty comfortable looking, too! Although I’d rather have a four-speed manual, the automatic actually fits the more relaxed vibe of the convertible pretty well.

d6

Under the hood we have the original 351 cubic inch V8 which is said to run well. The original intake manifold has been replaced, but is included with the sale. Somehow a previous owner misplaced the top to the air cleaner. I don’t know if that’s a Shelby only item, but if it is that may be difficult to find. But I’m still thinking about cruising down the California coast–maybe the Pacific Coast Highway? How about you, would you like to take that ride as well? Tell us where you’d like to drive this beautiful semi-survivor Shelby in the comments!

My DREAM CAR, (actually GT500 version but beggars can’t be choosers!) Even my favorite color. Would get this and continue to drive it and enjoy it!

As a Camaro guy this is NOT my dream car; having said that, this one looks very nice and is one Mustang I would love to own. I bet it’s a blast to drive, especially with the top down on a nice day. Too bad I don’t have the extra cash laying around as I live close enough to this one (Oceanside) I could go look at it.

The missing air cleaner housing lid/cover is the same as my ’71 Boss 351’s.

What’s missing is the rubber seal that butted up against the hood, as in this similar photo. Whoever buys the car, shouldn’t be too hard to find, they make reproductions.

Beautiful car but the hood has a big hump on the driver’s side.

Very common with that long fiberglass hood. The hood springs were too stiff.

Did not notice the hump, thanks for pointing it out. No mention of it in the description. Hmm. Now I wonder if there are other hidden issues.

What is strange is that the years these were built they were the heaviest car Ford sold. That being said god I would love to have one. My neighbor had one in arrest me yellow with the black interior and all the options.

    True automotive lust incarnate.

    Fantastic car….

Fishy seller… absolutely no feedback, yet the description and disclaimers are obviously a seasoned Ebay seller…car dealer in disguise. Also well aware that an international buyer can pay more.

If this car was on Craigslist at 60k then maybe he’s gonna clear a few dollars… what’s the Ebay fee on 60k+… but with a cash transaction I doubt Ebay would have a difficult time collecting fees (just close the account).

Seller wants cash in hand or a cashiers check… I hope the IRS isn’t listening… I would ask for it in gold, easier to carry/count.

But still a beautiful car… how come manufacturers can’t produce cars this beautiful…manufacturers just produce platforms for real artists….like Shelby.

I wonder what kind of offers he’s had? If it was pre-Great Recession times bidding would have already pushed it over 100k…

I wonder if he’s(I assume it’s a man selling it) allowing test drives? … I would pay the the 300$ to fly to Cali just to test drive this car.

What’s the ebay fee on 60K+? I am pretty sure that is not an issue because ebay charges a flat fee to sell a car regardless of the final sale price. They do not charge the same 10% selling fee like they do on other listings.

Since I drive a 2012 I always compare the modern to this ‘Cool’ era. It just doesn’t get any better than this. Except a new GT350 with the beautiful engine is the same price. I’d take new.

Awesome car, but one with the SCJ 429 would be my ultimate lust car.
