If Land Rovers and Jeeps seem mainstream, then we have the perfect rig for you. This is a 1963 Volvo L3314HT and we doubt you will see any others while up camping. These were built for the Swedish Army and came is a variety of flavors. This one is a hardtop (HT) which could haul seven people so there should be plenty of room for all your gear. Find it here on Seattle’s craigslist for $5,000. A special thanks goes to Robert J. for this submission.

This Swedish stormer is powered by Volvo’s bulletproof B18 four cylinder. These over engineered engines are known to last forever and unsurprisingly this one is claimed to still be running. It is listed as a project though, so we assume the rest of the vehicle needs some work. We have included a few of the photos below so you can dream up what you would do with it. Summer is right around the corner you know…

Nice this would be a great Sebring car, for the 12 hr. of Sebring, great for a cruise down the midway & camp in it.

I could use this up in the Hainsville Woods. Could fish the East Branch right from the comfort of the front seat.

Just because a country is neutral doesn’t mean they won’t have an army to protect themselves from invasion

~ David is correct, self-defense preparedness is of strategic importance to those who oppose war and violence. case-in-point; the Swiss who’ve been bodyguards to the Vatican for 500 years. (sans ‘Laplander’)
& i recall reading that those Valp used by the Swedish military had warranty for life from Volvo.

Here I thought they just armed themselves with Swiss army knives.

You guys know that Sweden is home to the Swedes and Switzerland is home to the Swiss right?? Two countries, and it’s the Swiss who are famously neutral.

Actually, they built a ton of them. Very reliable vehicles. Replaced by the Volvo C202 then the C303 which were similar vehicles.

This Volvo is called valpen (puppy) in swedish, many were built. Sweden has the most modern military defense in Europe. Think of jas fighter plane gripen, top notch fighter.

This thing is way cool!! What a project. Yes, Sweden is one of the formost manufacturers of weapons, especially artillery, And tho’ neutral in WWII, produced the famous Borors anti-aircraft gun used by both sides. They also have compulsory military service, (or did), vast caves of military stuff under mountains and don’t forget that Saab started as a fighter manufacturer.

I owned one of these, sold it in 2005. These where brought over here to be used as line vehicles by power companys, they could get to the hard to access aeras better than anything offered in the N,A market at the time. Mine was unstoppable, but parts are hard to find here in eastern canada. And I am not referring to the engine and transmission.

Oh yeah! As a Volvo owner up here in snowbelt country I really need this. Shovel in the front and tow hook in the back, well optioned. Of course after what just happened with the blizzard that just left CT, RI MA, NH and ME a mess, I’d have to stand in line to bid on this. Leave it as is, fix the rust, install bunks, camp stove, potty and a plug in frig. Perfect for the Pittsburgh GP week. During WWII the Brits bought up all of Sweden’s SKFprecision ball and roller bearing production and flew them out in civilian marked DH Mosquito bombers. Bofors was the manaufacturer of the best rapid fire 20 and 40 mm anti-aircraft ship cannon.
