Chevrolet sales remained strong in 1957 thanks to the now-iconic restyle of the 1955-56 Chevies. Sporting pointed tailfins, more than 1.5 million new 150s, 210s, and Bel Airs found homes in 1957 with 168,000 being Bel Air Sport Coupe like the seller’s father’s car. It has a more modern drivetrain but has been sitting for six years and will need some work. From a carport in Sebring, Florida, this Bow-Tie is looking for a new domicile here on eBay. The current bid on eBay is $10,900 but the reserve is unmet.
This automobile is on the market again thanks to a deadbeat auction winner. The seller’s dad has owned this Sport Coupe for most of the 21st Century but it has sat untouched under his carport since 2019 due to poor health. We’re told it was a runner at the time, though not so much so lately. The fuel system is going to need a flush, a tune-up is in order, and a new battery is needed.
The VIN does not include a “V” which means the Bel Air was not built with a V8. But one is there now, a 350 cubic incher with an unknown build year. Whatever transmission was included at the factory, a 700R4 is there now with an overdrive gear. Along the way the brakes were upgraded with a dual reservoir. An Edelbrock carburetor, aluminum radiator, and Flowmaster exhaust may have been added by Dad.
We’re told the black interior was redone about 15 years ago, but exposure has led to a bit of rust and a faded finish. The interior may or may not be original but some of the trim pieces are in a box. Extras include a set of fender skirts that could be OEM, some glass, weatherstripping, and an assortment of other stuff. This could be a nice ’57 Bel Air to restore – as long as numbers matching or period correct aren’t important to you.

Seems like a decent deal for a 1957 Chevy that has not been sitting too long! It probably was a in line 6 with a three on the tree the way the brake pedal looks and it is close to the gas pedal.
Naaa….it’s always been an auto. You can see by looking at the instrument panel it has PDNR.
That was the exact car from Dirty Dancing that was driven by Patrick Swayze .
Wonder where this one was back in the 80’s?
It’s nice to see a 57 BelAir sport coupe. I haven’t seen a nice one like this in a long time
…It will make someone a nice project car.
I’d do it up old school with a 4 spd. and rebuild the 350.
Im not much on 57s, but looks pretty solid. Is there a difference in a sport coupe and a regular 2 door hardtop?
Although this is being sold due to bad health, which I’m sorry to hear, this ad made smile a bit. It looks like the owner updated the drivetrain, brakes and interior to make himself a nice reliable driver that he could fully enjoy. I say cheers to that. Having had cars that I won’t drive because I didn’t want something to happen to them. I always appreciate when I see an old car being used for its intended purpose. I have nothing against trailer queens, but there is nice about an old car that is not perfect that you can enjoy. I would get it running and leave as it is, S-10 wheels and all.
Shine it up. Tune it up. Drive it.
