The classic lines of the Chevrolet Blazer/GMC Jimmy K5 will never go out of style. If you find yourself in the market for one you have your work cut out for you. It seems when searching for these trucks, you either find them in pristine show room condition or hacked up mud trucks. There is seldom a middle ground. This 1986 GMC Jimmy 4×4 seems to be that middle ground, find it here on craigslist in northern Virginia for $3,500 OBO.
This Generation K5 Jimmy was built from ’73 until ’91, thats a long run. Along the way there were minor changes to the body and interior. The K5 was equipped with a back seat and removable hard top, a fun option to have especially for beach cruising. This Jimmy is powered by a 305 V8, since this is a ’86 it should be carbureted. Fuel injection was added for the ’87 model year.
The seller doesn’t give many details other than it has 150k miles and runs great with clean interior although no photos are provided. This model is equipped with a power rear window that is said to work.
At $3,500 this could be a solid deal, but I would be cautious of rust. In this photo it looks like the center of the rocker is rusted but I’m not sure. If this thing passes the rust inspection this could be the K5 your looking for. This trucks are easy to work on and the aftermarket support is huge, parts are usually easy and reasonable to obtain. If your on a budget and want a K5 this could be the one.
Really miss two tone trucks.
I am classic vehicle collector. My recent buy was a ’79 Chevy Blazer K5 ALL original survivor 49K miles has 305 , PB , PS , factory AM radio , manual front hubs , manual windows was 1owner had repaint since new. Its two tone dark brown and white color combo. I paid 20K for it. Beautiful classic SUV!
Seems to be priced extremely low , no?
It seems to be priced right for a used truck.
for local market here it’s about $2-3k low
No engine, interior or underside pics. Not for me.
Not for a 305
This was a very popular color combination that year.
We had a lot on the lot just like this.
Nice..I have a 90 suburban 4×4..the seats are captains chair high back bucket seats.. And they are so incredibly comfortable I refused to get out of the truck just because of its seats
I saw a similar one in central VA on Craigslist earlier in the week. Same colors even. Different car though and is already gone.
