Here is your cheap entry into the upcoming Northwest Classic Rally in Oregon. This car is already in Oregon and it will need some quick repairs, but could possibly be ready to go by the 28th of this month. It is a 1980 so it just makes the cut and it would allow you to cruise in comfort. Pick it up on eBay with the buy it now price set at $1,750.
It may not be the most attractive car, but it is definitely be unique. Some claim that the styling was influenced by the Ferrari Daytona. If you squint really hard maybe you can see it? The seller claims that this car has been in storage the last few years but that it runs well and that they have already many parts. We would be sure to go through everything before driving it too far since it has been sitting.
Here is what made this car special when it came out. Rover installed a V8 to try to compete with more expensive luxury cruisers at the time. Only 800 of these made it to our shores so we doubt there will be another one at the rally. We hope someone jumps on this bargain soon and gets it back on the road.
Some readers showed concern for parts availability. Well, we did a little research and it turns out that Rimmer Bros in the UK carries almost everything and Wedge Parts here in the States has some stuff too.
If I remember right, they had shag carpets too!
I’ll always remember this in the British Leyland Top Gear Challenge.
do you still have the rover 3500sd1
This car was listed on eBay back in July of last year, so we are sure it is long gone.
My trike has a v8 engine from a Rover SD1 Vitesse @ 1985
I had a Rover SD1 2600S back in 1985 – great motor. The v8 version would have been even better.
