Yes indeed there is a Vega nomad wagon! Take a look at this one here on craigslist. There were only 4,000 built, but the owner seems to be reasonable with their asking, although $3,000 is a lot of money for any Vega. How did a nice California car like this end up in New York? It’s said to have been sitting since 1990, but not if it was in California or New York for that period of time. Perhaps it’s not badly rusted? By 1976 Chevrolet had added a lot of galvanized panels to the Vega, so it’s possible!
The paint looks like it could be original. It still has the Nomad log on the tailgate. The vinyl roof even looks nice. There’s no mention of rust. Do you see any in the pictures?
It would appear the owner has some interest in Vegas. Do you suppose the other wagon is street legal? This is a nice comparison shot. You can see how all Chevy did was add the panel to the “B” pillar to create the look. That, a few trim pieces and a vinyl top made it a Nomad. This was far from Chevy’s finest hour and it got much worse from there, but I hope this little relic survives and stays on the road!
CA car in NY wearing Jersey classic plates. Hmm.
I’m loving this little thing!
Hm, no mention of rust and no interior description or shots. It’s interesting to me at this price, and I generally dislike Vegas. Too bad it’s not 1,200 miles closer… -_-
A Nomad??? Are you kidding???? I never knew this “thing” existed. This gives the tri-five Nomads a really bad name. I can’t believe they made this and called it a Nomad.
If I was to buy it I would make it the twin to the yellow one.
I was selling Chevys in 76 and never saw this being made.
Bought a panel delivery version at an auction.Got lucky since it has the old iron duke 4 cylinder with a 4 speed. Lasted me 4yrs and about 60,000 miles. Not bad for $250. Chevy should never have put that alloy or aluminum block piece of junk in them.
I would love to have a nice small block powered vega. Early little bumper car preferably. For that matter make it a Pontiac astre.Lol. I want to say I have seen a picture or something about these long ago. I know Jim Wangers book Glory Days has a pic or two of a similar vega in it. Good book btw if you are into automotive history.
Again, Google verifies there was such a thing.
I actually just bought this car i live in upstate ny and it came with a california title.. waiting 10 to 12 weeks to get title back for ny
Thanks for the update Jon! Please keep us updated.

I have one of these and I live in Ca. Needs work but the 4 cyl. engine has been upgraded and it runs and drives. $2500.00 takes it home.
If you want to list your car on the site, here’s the link to do it: https://barnfinds.com/sell/
