It seems within the past few years the automotive market has been all over place with pricing and values making it difficult to find nice cheap cars. Thankfully this 1980 Camaro is an awesome deal as its condition is great, and its price is even better for $2,700! Check it out here on craigslist out of Wendell, North Carolina. A big shout out to Rocco B. for this awesome submission!
Simply described as a 350 V8 crate motor, this cheap Camaro is ready to drive! Backed up by an automatic transmission and featuring power steering and power brakes, this Chevy is looking like a downright steal for the asking price.
Although mildly aged, the interior is about as nice as you could hope for. There is some mild fading to be found but it is subtle. There are a few minor issues to point out such as the missing driver side door pull, the missing passenger side seat belt holder, and the floppy passenger side seat belt. Otherwise the interior is very fair and original looking with the exception of the cd player, and the combo gauges.
Brilliant and shiny, the paint is a lovely shade, and the Torque Thrust wheels play well on this machine. From what I can see of the pictures there is no rust to be seen, and the rockers and quarters look great! There is only one issue I see, and that is the alignment of the driver side door. The panel gaps look a bit wide, but perhaps the door hinges are worn? I am sure there are some minor things that could use some attention, but for the $2,700 asking price can you really pass up this ready to drive classic?
You failed to mention the classic “Road Hugger Radial GTs”!
It looks like a solid car for the money.
My neighbor just got his high school kid one of these for his first car. The kids lucky his dad runs a body shop so when he got it, it had been completely restored to new condition. Black with black interior with red seat inserts which are not original.
Extremely honest deal. Nice color, wheels. Wish it had air. Yes, these doors are the heaviest in this generation Firebird and Camaros. Hell, I had a machine shop do up some hinges and pins for me because of the sag…and this was after only 8 years.
Cars like this, nothing special but just cool and with a “normal” price, are what makes me still feel good about our hobby. Try to ignore the insanity!
I love these Camaros I had a 78 and have always looked for another they are cool and fun to drive
Seems like a solid car at a reasonable price. I wonder what the mileage is on it? I’d like to see more of the one in the background also ;-)
86 Vette, why would you wonder what the mileage is on an old car.
Most have had multiple engines through their life.
Just look a the condition today and not worry about the numbers on the dash. Don’t give in to the hype.
Nice entry level hobby car. Door pulls and seatbelt clips are always a problem on these cars. Plenty of aftermarket sources for replacements.
Hardly the most desirable Camaro but a great way to get into the hobby… or even a neat fairweather DD for a seasoned veteran. Good buy IMO.
A lifetime ago, my then girlfriend had just traded her 260Z for the 1979 version of this car, only hers had the big Type LT stripes, A/C, and was a manual transmission.
I usually dislike being a passenger. Relatively few people drive to my liking, and no girls. Amy was the exception. I was comfortable with her driving style. That Camaro contributed to the feeling.
It was sure-footed, without being harsh, had decent power, and seating for the front-seat occupants was quite comfortable.
Those were good times.
If whoever buys this car needs an automatic, and has no use for A/C (cool climate), it’s a lot of car for the money, even at twice the price.
Who, in North Carolina, would buy a car without A/C?
A/C? It got 2-60 A/C. If that’s not good enough just push it up to 65. Plenty of air.
I think this is a great start to fun car for reasonable price. If my wife didn’t already tell me no, I’d be on a road trip.
