There’s little doubt that the B platform GM vehicles have earned a place in both automotive history and the hearts of enthusiasts. A few years ago, it seemed the car hobby woke up suddenly to the appeal of these rigs, both from a utility standpoint and owing to the obvious charm they possessed; obviously, with the later models, you also got the benefit of powerful LT1 V8 as standard equipment, which is where this 1996 Buick Roadmaster Collector’s Edition listed here on eBay at no reserve goes from simply being a terrific classic daily to a potentially brilliant purchase for future ROI as supply continues to dry up.
In addition to being a desirable year with the LT1 V8 as standard equipment, this Buick also sports low mileage, clocking in at just under 45,000. The woodgrain trim is in excellent shape and the car hails from Washington State, which is generally kind to older cars and trucks. The Roadmaster is of a three estate wagons that shared a variety of badges over the years under the GM flag, including the Chevy Caprice and the Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser. The latter is fairly hard to find these days, with the Caprice being the most available and the Roadmaster slotting into second place.
The appeal of these large estate wagons is multifaceted. The obvious appeal is the combination of rear-wheel drive, a V8, and a long-roof configuration. However, there’s also endless utility offered by way of having a rear-facing third row if passenger conveyance is your priority, and if you just need space for stuff more than people, simply fold the seats down and enjoy your acres of cargo space. The carpeting is in beautiful condition and that’s not easy with a light biscuit-colored cabin, so it’s evident that this is both a low mileage vehicle and one that’s been loved. The seller includes photos of the original owner’s portfolio and window sticker, both of which are also in excellent condition.
Those small details are what helps inspire confidence in the big ones, such as the owners keeping up with regularly scheduled maintenance. The engine bay is spotless, and that LT1 V8 will offer the next owner plenty of thrust courtesy of 260 horsepower, which should keep most drivers entertained. The seller uses more useless AI-curated language to describe the vehicle, which offers us zero insights into the upkeep it has experienced over the years, so you’ll have to trust the photos or schedule a PPI to learn more about the car’s history. Regardless, it does appear to been looked after and the current bid price of just $7,600 could make it a chance worth taking.

Could there be a more ideal car for the family 👪 road trip. Mom and Dad get to goose the 350ci. Just lovely all around. Gorgeous interior, concert sound speakers 📻🔈.
The dual exhaust icing on the cake.
The writeup says 3rd row rear facing seating (which my kids used to love) but I don’t see that ?
The seat is shown in the stowed away position in the floor. With both seats down, I can slide full sheets of 4×8 plywood into mine. Love going to the home improvement store and asking for help to load them into my “car”. This specimen is super clean. Should sell in the low teens.
The window sticker in shown in the eBay listing, and it has “Delete 3rd Row Seat” listed. Wonder why someone didn’t want that flexibility? Maybe the dealer ordered it that way? The hood ornament says Collector’s Edition, but I didn’t see anything special on the sticker?
Had a 69 Pontiac Safari wagon with the 455 and it would not pass a gas station but super car. Lots of storage room under the 3rd seat area. Wish I had this one.
Couple of things. Every 96 Roadmastet was a collectors edition. There was nothing to indicate it on window sticker. Plenty of photos, but not I want to see, like the spare tire removed to see if there is rust. Glad to see velour interior. GM uses cheap hides and after 30 years, without proper care, they split and crack. Also cold in winter and you stick to in summer.
SOLD for $10,201.
Wow, well bought ❄️
