Rare Comanche Edition: 1971 International Scout 800B

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

This 1971 International Scout is listed here on Craigslist for $26,500 and is claimed to be 1 of 1,500 built as a limited edition Comanche package. The vehicle is located in the San Francisco Bay area. The 800B Scout retains its factory paint and decals and appears to be in pretty good original condition. We appreciate David Raezer bringing this one to our attention.

The Comanche Edition Scout was painted in a white and yellow paint scheme that was carried over into the interior. The removable top is said to retain its original headliner. The low back bucket seats are black and appear to be in good condition. The roll bar appears to be covered in vinyl. Comanche Edition Scouts were built with an upgraded interior compared to the production 800B.

This Scout is equipped with its factory 304 cubic inch V8 engine and Holley two-barrel carburetor. The engine was rated at 193 gross horsepower and 272 lb-ft of torque. Both sides of this Scout have fuel caps indicating that it is equipped with dual fuel tanks. The engine is mated to a floor shifted 4-speed manual transmission. An interesting fact is that the International sold more Harvester Scouts in the 1960s than Jeeps.

The 800B version of the Scout was only produced from August 1970 to March 1971 before it was succeeded by the Scout II. The Comanche package had special paint, chrome trim, decals, sliding windows on the rear top, chrome wheels, and an optional roof rack. For you, Scout enthusiasts, was this front bumper a factory option, or is it aftermarket? Will this Scout sell close to the seller’s asking price?

Beautiful, these rotted away in 5 years over here, most had plows. Some only 2 way plows. Is this color like the hurst edition colors?

Whatever is welded on the front of this truck looks like a high-school shop class project. Otherwise, it looks like a nice original specimen. I just don’t get the money these early Bronco’s and Scout’s bring.

It has 3 different kinds of tires on it, none of which have been made in MANY years.

last of the model for me (just like the 80/800, cept for the last 2 yr diesel). This might B the one to have as it’s got the opposite sides tanks & top-line model. Yrs ago I saw some 1 put a pass side tank on their bronk. All ways inspired me to do the same to mine…
