Did Someone Say Patina? 1964 Chevy Truck

I thought it would be best to get it over with. Anyone who is aggravated by frequent use of the “P” word doesn’t need to worry because I went ahead and got it out of the way by sticking it in the title. Some of the more popular and desirable “rat rod” trucks, being built with or without airbags, have great antique-looking paint finishes on them and this one fits that bill. It’s located in Piedmont, Missouri (not too far from it’s original home) and can be found here on craigslist for $1,000!

Check out the cool-looking hand-lettered door! It looks like the lettering might only be visible only on one side though.

The non-running six cylinder isn’t as big of a problem as the missing fender, or the fact that the truck has apparently been partially disassembled since these photos. If I were planning a trip to go see it, I would ask more than normal questions about exactly what exactly is left before heading out.

So, what do you think – good rat rod material? Depending on what all is included, this could end up being a bargain for the right person.

Nobody? Looks like a great deal to me. Stepsides are hard to find, most of these were used by contractors with the bigger box and the price is right, finally. I don’t think it would take much at all, and you’d have a decent driving ’64 Chevy pickup. Best deal to come through here in a while.

I’m with Howard on this one. An SWB Stepside is somewhat of a rarity these days. With the amount of parts available, it would be highly worthwhile to fix up, and DRIVE…

Hi geomechs, I see this has 6 lug wheels, was that a 3/4 ton C20?

‘Patina’ is getting a little old and it’s not like we can’t see faded paint and rust. That said the term ‘survivor’ is totally irritating to me.

Now about this truck. Very cool and should be fun noatter how the buyer finishes it!

Barnfinds stop being apologetic for “patina”!

The fact is it is a term, and a legitimate one at that. Any of the old codgers here that can’t adapt shouldn’t be coddled it’s enpowering there sense of righteousness.

There is a charm in natural aging whether it’s wine, antiques, cars or even the wrinkles brought on by years of gaining wisdom.
