Does This Windsor Push Your Buttons?

Spooky Windsor

The owner of this 1962 Chrysler Windsor does not wish to sell, but financial conditions and the loss of a garage appear to be forcing this sale.  It’s claimed to be a barn find which had been off the road since 1979 until it was discovered 2 years ago. It’s also said to be a survivor with 42,388 miles on the clock. Find it here on craigslist out of Freeland, Pennsylvania for $5,000.

Windsor Fins

Fins baby, we have fins with, according to the seller, original factory paint.  There’s lots of  “life’s patina” on the roof though.

V8 Power

The owner says that she “purrs like a kitten when running” and is solid underneath, but that it needs a bearing in the front.  There is the new carburetor, battery installed, and the tires have less then 200 miles on them.

'61 Windsor front seat

The interior is just great for an over 40 year old survivor and how about that cool front seat back?

'61 Windsor back seat

The backseat is looking good as well.

'61 Windsor dash

The best is for last – the three-dimensional electro-luminescent Astra-Dome instrument cluster.  If you happen to get to see one in person it is a real treat. And just look at all those push-buttons you get to play with

1961 Chrysler Windsor

With this package you get an original dealership sales catalog, a re-printed owner’s manual, and extra radio.  This is a true blast from the past that we think is worth a visit!

Motor-on,
Robert

Back in ’76 I had a ’61 Windsor 4 dr nearly identical to this car (except it was white) anyhow bought it at a towing auction for $35, thing ran like a champ, the 383 moved it down the road pretty well, used to race it at SIR with all the other door slammers, ran pretty consistent

    Not a 62, it’s a 61! 1962 chryslers had no fins!

62 didn’t have fins, that car is a 61. my dad had a 60 desoto adventurer. I remember going to the dealer a few times and seeing a 61 despot, their last year and it was very similar to the Chrsler, particularly the grill.

LOVE that dash! They are one of my favorite instrument cluster/dashes of all time! I think they even have the turn signal lever on the dash, a little button you push side to side……… I call them “gumball machine” clusters. I also believe it’s a 61 as the 62 has a rounded off turn down tail end with no fins.

Chrysler was building rockets in the early ’60’s. The dash on this car certainly evokes that image. I would prefer restoring to new condition.

If this was on the west coast I’d be all over it! Great color fits the car perfectly. I’d be tempted to paint the roof….I know ..I know.heresy……nothing better than an original survivor with minimal messing by assorted owners. I hope the seller gets to keep it I know how he feels!

    Beautiful car.
Is that the ghost of the previous owner to the left hand side of the picture?

nice car, I’ve seen a couple around my area. I have to agree with the first two comments. This is definitely a 61, not a 62.
