UPDATE 2/3/2021 – This Mopar has been relisted, this time just as an auction. The seller has set the opening bid at $30k. You can take another look at it here on eBay.
Depending on your tastes, a second-generation Charger can take on the appearance of a NASCAR racer or a luxury GT, a do-anything Pro-Touring monster, or a straight-line dragster. Some cars need vision and modification to look cool, but as you can see, this 1969 Dodge Charger in Little Rock, Arkansas looks great in stock form. Offered as a two-owner lifetime Arkansas vehicle, the Charger’s listing here on eBay has garnered over 20 bids to the tune of over $19,000. The Buy It Now price of $29,900 would surely delight the seller, but a well-chosen reserve will get this running, driving 383-powered Dodge sold on the first attempt.
While the “authentic” dust supports the claim of this “find,” most buyers would prefer a few shots after a $5 car wash. The presence of a roll-back suggests that someone else got the real bargain here, but it’s a solid-looking Charger nonetheless, and may not require a ton of effort to enjoy.
Some rust in the left rear is about the only negative mentioned in the listing. The lack of interior and engine pictures makes it tough to bid unless you’re a gambler or mystery buff. Will it be box cars or snake eyes? The painted brake drum suggests the car may have benefited from other preventative measures, but who knows?
If the ’57 Chevrolet can be called an “iconic” symbol of the ’50s, the ’69 Charger surely stands as an iconic classic muscle car. Appearing in countless movies and at least one wildly popular TV show, these cars turn the heads of enthusiasts and common citizens alike. Considering the lack of effort put into its presentation, how far above $19,000 would you go to own this running project?
I no longer buy from flippers. Owner only. I’ll come see the car at your shop or garage.
Most beautiful muscle car ever designed. Period. Worth every penny to restore. Too rich for my wallet – but I hope the next owner brings this thing back to its former glory.
Pretty for sure, but even with a 318 they didn’t handle well. (with a big block, forget it) Add in Chrysler’s crummy power steering and it completes the misery.
I was speaking aesthetically. The lines on these cars are perfect. 70s powertrains- yeah, no mystery there. Handling? Who cares? Keep it between the lines as it fills with smoke and its all good baby :)
I once owned a 1969 Charger R/T. Like any other car, they drive and ride very well when driven normally. Mopar power steering of the era exhibited what testers called “pump catch” when driven through a slalom course.
Not every car has to be a fire breather. This car will make a good summer driver as it is. The only mod I would do would involve upgrading the alternator and ignition systems. Single-pulley alternator makes less than 30 amperes, woefully inadequate for halogen headlamps.
What about the Charger’s handling with the still lighter in weight slant 6? – yes it was available lol.
I’m sure radial tires available later would make a big improvement.
I’m guessing when/if they come out with a dynacorn, that may be the better way to go.
So far just this …

Ok, let’s hear it Cool Joe.
I am busy chris. Your challenger is waiting at my sons
Wash the damn dirt off of it so we can see what it really looks like. Geez nobody wants the damn barn dirt. So sick of the “let’s save the dirt people”
Yep, how tough is it to run it through a car wash? Nice and clean would bring at least another $5000!
Dave, you’ve sparked a memory. I went to a farm auction about 10 years ago. The farmer had two IH 1466 tractors, you know the ones with huge cabs that could fit a dozen adults inside. #1 had 8500 hours, a new TA (torque amplifier) and fresh engine overhaul. It was wearing it’s original dulled paint and needed tires. #2 had 9300 hours, no updates and a brand new paint job. Guess which one brought $6,000 more than the other. Yup, the freshly painted one with unknown condition drive train. I’m like, WTH? BTW, I’ve got at least 1,000 hours operating a 1466 and they’re not a ‘nice’ tractor to operate in any condition. Give me an Oliver 1650 diesel and I’m happy all day.
Go look at the eBay ad, they washed it off and it looks like someone was driving it. H in the VIN means 383 4 barrel, G means 2 barrel. This car was bought as a daily driver with air conditioning. Doesn’t look like a bad restoration starting point from the photos.
Buying a car should be the last thing on anyone’s mind right now.
Buying a collectible right now is the perfect way to take one’s mind off what’s going on.
What are you talking about? Do you watch world news? Italy?
Too right.106,000 so far in the UK – population 65 million.
I had a friend eons ago who bought an almost new 69 Charger that was loaded! Complete with leather interior. Very nice car but he didn’t keep it long as he traded in on a used 69 Caddy Convert.
and you can’t take some pics of the interior, underhood, and underneath? WTF?
Seriously? My comment about Fox news spreading false information about a pandemic gets deleted? Or was it the cult comment? Sorry, I’ll stick to cars but when a huge news organization that mostly older folks watch and who are the most vulnerable is doing that, I think it’s a valid thing to say.
And the fact that it was deleted but this guy’s comment that’s downplaying a pandemic and saying it’s “amusing” wasn’t is, well, interesting.
I’ve had plenty of comments deleted and not once told why not do I even know why. Perhaps they weren’t car specific or one of a memory of a car and not one of buying a car. But I agree with ya on the post I didn’t get ton read due to it was deleted.
RULES: No profanity, politics, or personal attacks. Case closed.
Sadly, the seller looks greedy and possibly not very smart if he doesn’t take the almost $25k offer, if it’s legit. After all, despite terrible presentation/pics, he got within about $5k of his asking and likely at least double what he paid for it, while apparently not even cleaning or detailing it.
This may very well have been the car I drove to high school in 77. Wonder if it had any body work on FL fender?
i think you may be right.
If it is the same car, I wouldn’t give $5 for it. LOL
Prices are dropping. I just sold a titled, registered running 46 ford sedan for $3500 along with a 51 ford sedan both cars run and no rust whatsoever. So the days of big bucks are over for now folks.
$30K for a bench seat, column automatic car thats rusty and has really crappy seat recover job???? Good luck with that. I suspect he will own it for some time to come, while the market continues to drop. The amount of money to just get this car right would put you so deep in the hole you would never see daylight!
Are you implying that – a lying criminal media, in collusion with a lying criminal government that gave trillions to big corporations and banks as part of a stimulus bill to help the little people, and a greedy inhuman Big Pharma, all working hand in hand with a megalomaniac billionaire software scam artist bent on global population reduction, tied to WHO and the CDC – would lie to us?? You must be one of them cornspiracy guys! Haha
Let’s all ‘ask seller a question’ and tell him to wash the damn thing. Nobody wants to look at dirt that’s hiding whatever it is you’re trying to hide! It’s just plain old common sense. Ugh
All I see on ebay is opening bid 30k don’t see no auction what am I missing?
If some1 reproduces that front driver’s tire, it would be close to $300 – i would think.
I thought only old base Novas got the taxi seat material.
Good song to play in it – “Slip Slidin Away” – unless u got the seat belt on. lol
If headlites fail, are they as easy to open & close manually by hand as on a 1st gen RS camaro?
Not much for a 383.
Originally a 383 2bbl car column shift automatic bench seat car, with PLENTY of room for improvements, so right away the current bid price of $30K means you better have money to burn if you want to fix it up, or drive it as is and still stay upside down money-wise during ownership. Better cars to be found for the same or less money. But its a 69 Charger!
Sorry 1970 442/Cutlass is the best looking muscle car.
I do love a 70 Charger though.
I’ll take it. I would restore it or clone it. To bad it doesn’t list the engine and trans. Probably a 318/auto if it wasn’t hot rodded. Still a nice 69.
