My nieces and nephews have repeatedly told me that I’m too old to refer to something as “cool”. However, not only is this 1931 Model A cool, but I think that it is “drop-dead cool.” You will find it listed for sale here on eBay. It is located in Emmerich, Germany, and is listed with a clear title. The seller can arrange to ship the car to the USA. The BIN price on this classic has been set at $49,500.
Black paint is a great way of revealing every flaw and imperfection in a car body, and this black is about as good as it gets. I have spent a very long time going over the provided photos seeking some imperfection, and this one seems to have me beat. The body is close to perfect, and the depth and shine of the paintwork look to be first rate. The exterior trim all looks to be in fantastic condition. It is just an amazing job.
The great presentation on this Model A extends to the carved woodwork on the rear of the car. The detail work in this is once again quite beautifully executed. The work that has gone into picking out the detail in silver sets the whole thing off so well, and adds an air of class and dignity to the car.
Given the condition of the rest of this car, it is hardly surprising to find that the interior also appears to be in top-notch order. The upholstery appears to be close to flawless, and the remaining trim, dash and instruments also appear to be perfect. Details like the hinged windshield are also present and appear to be fully functional.
The engine on this car also presents exceptionally well. This is the standard 201 ci 4-cylinder engine backed by the standard manual transmission. The seller does not indicate whether any modifications have been performed to the engine or drive-train, but he does say that the car is rugged and strong, and is capable of handling the loads. It sounds good but makes me wonder just how heavy that load could actually be.
This Model A is so different that it is difficult to put a true value on it. In its current state and condition, I can see no reason why it couldn’t be used for its designed purpose. However, I see this as having far more potential as either a promotional vehicle or as a car that would garner more than its share of attention at a car show. What would you use it for?
Your right Adam this is all kinds of cool and your never to old to say cool. The only think that I think is a little over the top are the four lamps on the roof and the cross. Don’t get me wrong I have no problem with crosses I just don’t like where it’s located at the back above the tailgate would have been better, and smaller lamps a bit lower down would look better to I’d put red lense in the back and amber lenses in the front or possible stick with the clear lense and put coloured bulbs in instead. I have to wonder how many people took there last ride on the back of this hearse, and don’t you wonder how many of those were infamous individuals. The other thing that I find amazing is if it were in Germany from new how did it survive the ww2 in one piece. Again as Adam said cool.
Mainly major cities were bombed, many small towns were left alone, and when the allies came into a small town (at least in the West) how much the locals were looted depended upon the integrity of the commanding officer. Parked away in a rural farm building or inside a mortuary garage, i can easily see it surviving. That said, I find it creepy. Today, I prefer to see a casket inside the back of an SUV or minivan, preferably not one done up to look like a hearse either. And that comes from a medical pro, who deals with the dead a great deal of the time. Once the undertaking biz gets a hold of people, it gets creepy. Maybe too many old 1930s horror movies as a kid, I don’t know.

I once had an idea for a more hip mortuary business. All sorts of ideas about jazzing up services, neat places and ways to scatter ashes, even included pets for those who value that, plus a bunch of other ideas my wife still finds hard to embrace (creativity doesn’t always resound). The slogan was to be; “We put the fun in FUNeral”
This would have been a great addition to the program!
With Halloween around the corner this would fit perfect in my driveway with a strobe light flashing inside with the coffin with a mannequin of Jason climbing out.
That is a lot of cool!

My first impression was not so good, but I see by the comments ,I am in the minority. Also, the workmanship is certainly of a very high quality. I think you would really have to want it bad, or have a specific use for it, to justify the cost. Be interesting to see were it goes, maybe allot of us car guys, would like to have one last ride in it !
Buy it and lease it out to funeral homes for those families wanting a bit more than a Lincoln or a Cady.
I just wish that Revell or Monogram would get in on this action. Then we could all have one….

What is cool for me is the engine compartment. See how simple it is! No emissions crap, no a/c, no heater box, just pure and simple – engine. Beautiful.
Buy this, move to the New Orleans area and rent it out.
It’s the perfect hearse for a place like New Orleans which has had many classic Vampire, Voodoo and dark movies featured. The lights on top, in particular, would be perfect and compliment some of the unique horsedrawn hearses there.
Plus, around Mardigras, it would constantly be used.
I’d keep it for my own yard for Halloween though.
