With sales numbers for the C1 on the rise, Chevrolet took the don’t fix it if it’s not broken approach for the 1960 Corvette, as there weren’t many changes made from the previous year.  For the first time, America’s sports car found more than 10,000 homes for the ‘60 model alone, with a host of excellent engine options for buyers to choose from.  This 1960 Chevrolet Corvette left St. Louis with a dual-quad-equipped 283, so if you’ve been looking for a fun project, this one scores high in the number of born with barrels under the hood.  The ‘Vette is down south in Walker, Louisiana, and can be spotted here on eBay, where 17 bids have already taken the price to $25,600.

From a coolness standpoint, a fuelie 1960 Corvette might capture the most audience at your local car show, but having a second carb on top of your 283 isn’t anything to be taken lightly either.  The base 283 with a single 4-barrel wasn’t exactly a slouch, weighing in at 230 horsepower for starters.  However, adding a second unit bumped that number up to 235 or as high as 270, depending on whether the customer opted for Code 469A or 469C.  Unfortunately, the seller doesn’t go into much detail regarding what exactly is currently residing in the bay, only telling us it’s a dual-quad 283 with no carbs.  There are also quite a few other engine pieces missing, and it looks like years or maybe decades have passed since any coolant has been flowing, so it’ll probably require a thorough going-through.

Originally said to be black outside, we don’t get any information about at what point that color disappeared.  However, the panels appear to still have a reasonably good fit, and with some massaging it shouldn’t be too long before this one’s ready for a respray.  The seller also mentions that his Corette is a factory hardtop-only example, with that particular component remaining black and appearing in good shape.  More good news comes from down below, as a trio of photos from the underside are provided, all of which seem to show a nicely preserved platform.

We only get to view a couple of shots directly from the interior, with neither showing the dash, but the seller does say that the gauge cluster and radio are still present.  The seats are still there too, though they’ll need some attention as will the door panels.  While there’s plenty of work to be done here, this 1960 Corvette seems to be structurally in good condition, and overall at a decent starting point for the future owner to begin his restoration.  All things considered, what’s a fair price to pay for the C1 we’re seeing here?
