This 1978 Chevrolet Camaro is being sold at no reserve to settle an estate here on eBay. There is a lot of interest in this clean white coupe with 45 bids up to a very reasonable $5,000 bid with 5 days left in the auction. The car is located in Cincinnati, Ohio and appears to be a respectable 120k mile driver.
The Camaro is equipped with its original 305 cubic inch V8 engine and has air conditioning, power steering, power brakes and an automatic transmission. The car is said to run and drive great. The car was repainted Code 11 white about 15 years ago and has its original code 74B carmine interior. The hood has a dent and the driver’s seat has a tear. The console lid has been replaced but not repainted. Check out the cloth seats!
The 305 cubic inch V8 engine produced 145 horsepower in 1978 but was pretty torquey around town. You definitely won’t win many quarter mile drag races unless you are bracket racing! In 1978, the Camaro was popular with 272,631 Camaros being sold. The car looks pretty original and even has its original AM radio.
I like the ET aftermarket wheels and, despite not being a Z28, the clean lines and styling of the 1978 Camaro will get you lots of second looks. If this car could be obtained for a reasonable price, it would be a fun driver or you could modify it. What is this Camaro worth in today’s market?
This is nice and plain without all the stripes and badging of a Z28. I like the white and red. I would fix up the little things and drive it as is. I don’t love the rims or hate them, but I’d keep my eye out for a set of something else.
Had the metalflake blue 1978 Z28 350cid automatic, it was the first production year with red, amber and white taillights, it was plenty fast with headers and open air cleaner, the 305 is a grocery getter at most IMO, nice automobile just slow.
Sold the Z for 3200 bucks with 67,000 miles on the clock….
I had a 78 Rally Sport with a 350 4 bbl car had 105K when I bought it ran decent but needed a cam change I put in a new stock replacement and went through the heads just cleaning up from the miles of crud but in this process the cam had substantial wear to the lines I would bet I gained 25 HP just putting in a new stock cam because of the wear on the original cam. I would expect this 305 to be in the same condition.
SOLD for $6089.
Not bad that looks like it could be enjoyed right away in a configuration that you don’t see much of anymore.
