EXCLUSIVE: 1992 Mazda Miata With 22k Miles

1992 Mazda Miata with 22k original miles. Automatic transmission. Always garage kept or covered, no rust, body is in great shape with the exception of the small area in the upper portion of the drivers door above the latch, about the size of a nickle (caused when the original owner backed the car out of the garage with the door open, it was the beginning of her dementia diagnosis and was not allowed to drive afterwards).

All the panels are original with no signs of being resprayed. Timing belt and water pump where replaced in 2006 according to a glove box receipt. Fluid regularly changed once a year. I am the 3rd owner of the car, I purchased it from the son in-law of the original owner and have know the car since 2005. Tires are old and starting to dry rot, however a set of 2003 Miata wheels are included with newer tires for driving.

There aren’t too many affordable sport cars out there that are as fun as the Miata. And not only are they agile little cars, they are dependable and easy to work on. Between their fun loving nature and dependability, you can find high mileage examples still on the road just about everywhere. But finding a low mileage example is nearly unheard of these days. If this one really has just 22k miles, it should have a lot of life left in it!

I’m not so sure about the hippy stickers. Personally, those would be the first things to go and as long as the car hasn’t spent much time outside, removing them really shouldn’t be much of an issue. The damage to the door is a bit of a bummer, but you might be able to find a replacement from another car that matches. With that fixed, it would be like new! Clearly the seller, Scott K, is a Miata fan and has several other beautiful examples in his garage.

We want to thank Scott for listing his Miata with us! It looks like a great little car and should prove to be a great drop top for anyone looking to get into Miata ownership. I just hope the next owner puts some miles on it and gets the most enjoyment out of it that they can! If you have a sweet low mileage survivor that needs a new home, please consider listing it here on Barn Finds.

I think the over abundance of the stickers is the first sign of… But seriously. Too bad it’s an automatic, and out of my price range. The car is local to me as I live in the same town.

    Wrong color…
    Wrong transmission….
Stickers shoulda been removed before posting but seeing that it needs a door and even if you’re lucky enough to find a white one 25 year old white will never match so needs paint too..
Milege is great but thats all its got I’d find a 5 speed with nice paint and more miles for probly less money
    Just my 2 cents

For those who haven’t driven a first-gen Miata, just do it. And this site is becoming so clogged with ads, that I can barely navigate.

As for the car, I agree that the stickers should have been removed prior to posting. I think it would present a lot better. The automatic kills it for me. Cannot imagine driving one without being able to wring the snot out of it.

      Just 1/2¢ worth.

It’s going to take some effort to get the stickers off without hurting the paint, I’d suspect the interior is permeated with the stench of patchouli oil as well, not sure of a remedy for that short of burning.

My apologies to PaTina, but I just can’t help myself. It reminds me of a 3-year-old’s bedroom that mom & dad thought it would be really cute to let her decorate.

No apology required. My comment was directed to the Richard who attempted a lame joke based on the former owner’s issues.

Price is twice what it should be…..1.6 Miata’s can be a blast, but NOT with an automatic….It can be converted to 5 or 6-speed fairly easy, but it’s going cost a few bucks ad a weekend on your back (under the car)

You obviously haven’t been following 1.6 Miata auction results lately….. For sone reason low mileage 1.6 Miata’s have been going in the $8k-$14k range…….

Asking price is high in the now. If you never drive it, maybe in 20yrs when supply of NA’s is less & our automated robot “cars” our serving us latte whilst we “smart”phone our lives away then probably & minus the sticker bombed look.

I think this car would be a perfect complement to someone who owns a 60’s-70’s VW van.
