If the Gama Goat wasn’t quite enough for you, then may we recommend this 1982 Unimog 1300L Expedition Camper? This Beast of a Benz features a turbo diesel, fast axles, and 8 forward and 8 reverse gears with a manual gearbox. It’s located in Phoenix, Arizona and is listed here on here on craigslist. The only problem? The seller is asking $69,500. Still, you could just sell your home and travel the world in this puppy!

Unimog For Sale

With only 40k miles on the clock, this thing is in great condition. A new Dirna A/C is included.

Mud Flaps

A BiMobil unit with a freshwater tank and on-board water purification make drinking water a snap.

Kitchen

There is a LP stove and a sink.  The owner is including a marine style head, a new ARB fridge/freezer, and a ArkPak power unit.

Bedding

The modified James Baroud roof top tent, (pictured below) will allow for the bedding, (pictured above) to be moved to the “upper deck”.

Pop Top

There is a full sound deadening kit form Atkinson VOS included with this purchase.  Now this is a RIG that can take you just about anywhere there’s a solid surface. How cool is that?

Cheers,
Robert

$69,500 or lower is a bargain for one of these.

With 8 speeds, I would think 55-65 would be a highway speed. My Pinzgauer 712 6×6 could do 55……on a good day.

I own a U1300L and with the fast axles you can cruise at 55 mph with no trouble and the tach is comfortable at 2550 RPM. I have owned a couple different models and years of Mogs and this one is the most universal by far for daily driving wether it’s driving to town for groceries or driving through a river the truck is equally at home with either!

Stock axles on a U1300 have a top speed of 54 mph. The fast axles add 19% for a top speed of just over 64 mph. Pretty fast for that monster.

Yeah I was just going to add that! Remember that 60 MPH in a vehicle with such large tires, especially while sitting right over them, seems much more than fast enough!

Looks like an older version of the Moggie featured in “Jurassic World”‘…

Speed? Who needs speed? You’re buying this too see the world, not pass it by.

Look at the places Hubert Kriegel traveled to on an overloaded Ural Patrol:
