According to the seller, this 1968 Chevy C10, located in Spring Hill, TN, is a highly-optioned example that still wears its original paint and wood bed. With purportedly only 20,000 miles put on the truck since new, this truck has seemingly seen very little use during its life. The second generation of GM’s C-series trucks was introduced in 1967 and was GM’s first effort to add some comfort and convenience to what had previously been strictly a work vehicle. While still very utilitarian compared with today’s trucks, they were a step up from their predecessors. To make the ride more comfortable, a coil-spring rear suspension was available, and engine options ranged from a 250ci six-cylinder up to a 396ci V8.
According to the seller, this particular example is highly-optioned, but he doesn’t go into any specifics. I don’t see an a/c compressor in the engine photo, so it doesn’t appear that was an option that the buyer selected. The seller doesn’t explain how the truck survived all these years and why it saw so little use, but the provided photos, although limited, don’t show anything to discredit his claims that the truck is 100% original and in excellent condition.
Classic truck prices have been following classic car prices to ever higher and higher levels. It’s getting tough to locate clean GM trucks that are 20 years younger than this one, and those that are available command a strong premium. The seller’s photos are pretty limited, so it’s hard to have a high degree of confidence in his description of the truck’s condition, but I don’t see anything obvious to make me doubt his claims, either. I think a prospective buyer would be well-served to give the truck a thorough once-over before committing to a purchase. The only way I’d love this truck more is if it were a GMC variant with the big V6 and a third pedal, but I’m undecided about the asking price. What are your thoughts?

My dad bought a ’68 Custom Camper. It was essentially a C-10 but the badging read ‘Custom Camper.’ It had the 3-piece wheels and 7.00 X 15 6 ply tires. I remember those well because the rear ones didn’t last very long with a 327 engine up front. It held up remarkably well considering a couple of teenaged boys did a lot of the driving.
All I can say is good luck whoever pays that price is a fool
I just can’t see paying these outrageous prices for old pickups and first generation Broncos, they were nothing special just work and plowing vehicles. I definitely would pass on this truck as much as I like it.
My favorite body style on late sixties trucks. My beat up ’72 would be ashamed to be parked next to this . As nice as this is the seller is dreaming. Maybe 10 grand if it is as represented. His best bet is to roll it into the auction world where old fat guys can exercise their libido by overpaying for overdone cars and trucks.
The ad offers no proof of anything. I would be very suspect of the mileage and original paint claims. If it’s all it claims to be the price is pretty close to the mad market.
I simply will not pay these kinds of prices for what is offered. I feel the same way about inflamed prices for certain cars as well. Many of my friends in the Hobby feel the same way. But in the end, the thing is worth what someone will pay for it.
Nice old truck but 30k is quite a stretch for it. Says its well optioned not sure what they mean by that dont see any a/c compressor under the hood, I see power brakes & auto trans thats it.
I had a 70 gmc rubber mat special 250-6 inline, and 3 on the tree. One of the best trucks I ever owned. As nice as this is there is not $30k here $10-15k maybe. I think the seller really doesn’t want to sell, maybe his wife is trying to get him to get rid of it and he can say well I tried, who knows. Again The problem with lower milage pristine vehicles is you can’t use them or they lose there value so they end up sitting around taking up space in your garage. If I had it I’d use it, I’d treat it well and keep it in the garage too, but why have it if your not going to use it.
I think they are asking WAY to much money for this truck. It looks like it was well taken care of but the mileage is more like 120,000 by the looks of the engine.. It also looks like it was used to haul a camper with the brackets on each end of the box. I love these old trucks and mine gets a lot of attention but it’s not much good for farming.
My son has really gotten into the C10 trucks. I can’t figure out why. Like the person before me, it is worth what you sell it for. That being said, I think my Stuart tank is worth $350K.
It may lack the compressor but that definitely looks like an A/C suitcase on the passenger side firewall.

Actually that box is just the factory heater box- no A/C hoses visible.
There is a cruise control ‘module’ peeking out on driver side of engine compartment. Dont see a power steering pump, however..
That’s just a normal 60s- 70s GM heater. Same ones in my ’64 c10 step – side. Too much $$ for an old truck. BF had a write-up of new older chevy & gmc pickups parked in a field. Maybe it’s time to hunt those up again.
Nice truck, I’m guessing it was used to haul a bed mounted camper. The price seems way off base, however I have been pricing new pickups lately. OUCH! It isn’t hard to find one priced north of 50K. When did truck prices jump from 12K to 50-60K? It seems to have happened overnight.
I’ve owned a new pickup all my adult life trading about every 10 years. The prices have skyrocketed over safety regulations / smog regulations and now fuel economy, but the real jump in prices has been since the turn of the century when pickups mostly 4×4’s have become mainstream family haulers with every gizmo most older 4×4 owners would never dream of wanting in a pickup truck. Even the low budget trucks have some stuff that is not needed for work or playing in the mud or trails and no dealer wants to sell a stripper because there is no profit to be made.
Overpriced?
I truly do not believe that is the original seat and the others are correct about the price but it is a very nice, very clean, old truck.
