Field Of Dreams: 1968 And 1969 Dodge Chargers

pic 1

These six chargers and a 1966 Coronet were put out to pasture in San Antonio long ago and are now listed on craigslist. They were found in a barn where they had been since the 1980s. A few have titles. The seller is willing to sell the collection or cars individually.

One can only wonder about the history or current state of this 1968 Charger RT. Perhaps it was some lids first car and those stickers were his prized collection. It looks like there might be enough to restore.

rear

A couple look more complete and less weathered. This 1968 and 1969 Charger look much more hopeful than the remains of the 1969 Charger beside them.

right rear

This 1966 Dodge Coronet is a 426 car, but the engine and tranny are gone. Some of that rust looks like beauty, more than shin deep.

One can only wonder what state these cars were in when they were collected and put in the barn. Perhaps they were parts cars for other projects.

Cool cars to have just sitting around. I’m sure there going sell for big money and everyone will get restored.

Better have a boat load of cash to restore all of them. Buy them all and make a couple decent cars by combining parts they will never be original again anyway.

Is the Charger worth more, less or about the same as the Road Runner and/or GTX? I am a Pontiac person and never paid attention to Mopar values so I have no clue.

IDK, I’ve always favored the ’61 Ventura bubbletop myself.

I think you’ll find a Charger or GTX will fetch more than a Roadrunner if they all had comparable drivetrains. Obviously the Hemi with a 4 speed will have the highest value. A Hemi in a Roadrunner will be more valuable than a smallblock Charger. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Of the B-bodies the Chargers are currently the front runners (excluding Super Bees, Daytonas & Super Birds). Back in the day they were targeting the mature driver, thus more creature comforts. Plus that design you just cant beat.

If you can’t decide on a price, sell them on eBay. Don’t put up some ignorant number as a placeholder.

Chargers are at least $18k. The Coronet is at least $45k AS IS (I’ve seen worse go for more)
