Five-Figure Driver? No Reserve 1964 Ford F-100

This 1964 Ford F-100 is being offered at no-reserve and is seeing very strong bidding. The seller admits it is a driver-quality truck, which has had some minor upgrades. It supposedly runs and drives well and can be driven like it is, or restored. Located here on eBay with a current bid of $9,200, the truck resides in Pompano Beach, Florida. Have a closer look at this one to see what all the bidding is about!

Unfortunately, the tailgate doesn’t match the rest of the color on the body. You’ll notice the roll pan that has been mounted in place of the rear bumper. This is a great tip/trick for any long-box owners out there. Removing the rear bumper can make a bid difference in the overall appearance of your truck and will make it appear shorter. The seller says the body has been shot with three coats of clear coat to preserve the original patina on the truck, so it can be driven as-is without much fuss.

The engine is a 292 V8 mated to a rebuilt automatic transmission. The seller says it is a good runner and can be driven as-is with no problems. The brakes have been upgraded to discs and the engine features headers. You can see an in-line fuel filter has been added to the factory metal fuel line. Other than that, there doesn’t appear to be any major modifications to the engine compartment.

I swear saddle blanket seat covers are mandatory for any 60s or 70s Ford truck! Like the rest of the truck, the interior looks fairly original. The dash appears to be in good shape and the seller says all the lights, signals, and gauges work properly. You can see some heavy surface rust near the passenger floor in this photo. It isn’t uncommon for the windshield gasket to split and allow water into the cab where it runs down the sides and collects on the floor. Hopefully, this one isn’t too bad.

Overall, this truck has a great look and awesome styling. Do you think a driver-quality truck like this is worth the strong bidding that it is seeing? Is there any end in sight for vintage Ford truck prices? Let us know what you think.

Now, why on Earth would you want to make the truck appear shorter? You want a truck or don’t ya?

Hi Rex. Just my opinion that 2wd long-box Fords of the 60s and 70s look better without rear bumpers. I have a ’68 and it made a dramatic difference in the overall appearance when I removed the bumper.

Nice old Ford! Just needs a bumper so you can step up into the bed and get the tools!

A 1964 F-100 is on my bucket list. An old friend of mine who owned a lot of classic cars pointed out the ’64 model when I expressed my love the 60’s F-100s. He said that the ’64 that followed the unibodies and preceded the I-Beam models was desirable because it held wheel alignments better than the I-Beams. I don’t know if this is true, but he believed so. I would be curious to hear what others here think.

I’ve said this before but I live in Northern California where you can find great deals still on these from nearby farm country on CL for the a lot less money than this one will go for on eBay.

I’m sure if I was selling this truck my auction would bring a hefty final bid of $2,450.00

I load bulk mulch with a Bobcat. When the weekend warrior comes in with a short bed and a toolbox taking up half the bed, I always swear under my breath. I have to come in diagonally , trying not to hit their taillight for the Bobcat bucket to ALMOST fit when loading.

Tough to haul 4×8 sheetrock in a 6 foot bed truck. 2x4x8 studs stick out but won’t break like sheetrock.

It’s hard to believe the reserve hasn’t been met with the current high bid of $9,200, especially when you consider it “sold” with a high bid of $6,800 in early June. Something seems fishy, it’s the same ad with the same pictures and description, both ads even say it’s a no reserve auction. It’s not like the economy is miraculously getting better or some dramatic happened to increase the value of the truck in the meantime.

Way too much for this old truck IMHO.

Am i missing something? I read through the article and i see nothing overtly special about this used and abused farm truck.
$9200 seems way unrealistic and reminds me of that old Price Is Right game where you remove a number to get the correct price of the car to win it.

I owned and eventually sold a 1960 Fleetside short box a few years back for half of this ones ask and that 1960 is/was a waaaay cooler rig.

I once owned a 65 f-100 long bed with 352 3 speed with overdrive. It was a great truck, which gave me many miles of fun driving. Twin I-beams would hold alignment without excessive tire wear if properly aligned. It took special equipment, which I had in my shop, to bend and twist the the I-beams into specs.
I like the way he did the clear coat without giving a permanent wet look, but still if it were mine it would get new paint. I also like the look of the roll pan, but do like something to step up on. I might fabricate steps at each rear corner that can be turned underneath to hide when not in use.
    God bless America

I’ll tell this story again…..Down in Tampa, all the guys have big burly pickups with big tires and lots of horsepower, but no room in the bed. I call them “Poser douchebags”. They’re posing as tradesmen.

So, they go to Home Depot and get a load of drywall or shingles or plywood, and it hangs out the back. 3 times now I’ve pulled up to the light as I’m leaving HD, and there in the turn lane is that load of drywall or shingles or plywood, just sitting in the street. They stomped on it when the light turned green, and presto! the monster truck took off, but the load stayed behind. I wonder if they noticed they dropped the load, or maybe the monster stereo drowned out the sound of the drywall hitting the street. I would love to see their faces as they got back to the job and discovered the micro-bed was empty.

Next time I’m gonna pull off to watch them come back and re-load, should be entertaining.
