Found: Stuarti Sonata

enzostuarti

Perhaps not missed but definitely missing is the one-off creation of former Italian crooner Enzo Stuarti. In addition to sharing his namesake with Enzo Ferrari, Mr. Stuarti also fancied himself as a bit of an automotive designer, perhaps a hobby that blossomed after his stint as a test driver for Ferrari. Apparently, this exotic-if-not-ugly shell here on craigslist is the remains of his one-off, Lamborghini Miura creation called the Stuarti Sonata. You can find more information on this page, as well as on this biography website that has a decent photo of the finished product. Although it had exotic underpinnings (some experts claim it had the motor from a Jarama, and not the Miura), it doesn’t appear as if the car ever caught on, no thanks to its odd proportions and even stranger looks. The lack of a chassis indicates the drivetrain is long gone, hopefully having been reunited with the Lamborghini it was removed from. According to this old eBay listing, the complete car was for sale a few years ago, and now all that is left of Enzo’s dream is the much-maligned body. Does anyone know the whereabouts of the engine?

Looks like it is where it should be. Hopefully a classic was saved with the chassis.

The body shell is in remarkable condition considering its head-on collision with a Sequoia-sized ugly tree.

It would be nice to have some information in the CL ad, such as:

    – Is that black object in front of the car body (behind, on the hauler) an engine cradle?
    – Is there a cross-mounted V12 engine in it?

If yes, that’s where most of the value is.

No it is not, it is the space frame to my vector M12.

what about the vehicles in the background? if this is for real then seller needs to do a lot of work on the listing. great find, maybe.

Good eyes! That could be the engine in front, and what looks like a white 911 in the background.

I *THINK* thats actually a pretty cool car!!! jeez, all the comments and websites are pretty mean about it. Not to everyone’s taste certainly but i like it! But what do i know??? I just recently sold my Fiberfab Jamaican (Loosely based on a Muira) and am focusing instead on my Fiberfab Banshee or Caribee whichever you prefer (The names changed) but i like it better with the curves than the jamaican. Only issues are the door openings as i am redoing that.
So clearly, my tastes are suspect. After many years in the restoration business i enjoy instead a more relaxed attitude than the anal retentive bolt polisher world. I also have several prewar rat rod projects. Rust and Bullet holes! My friends are appalled.

This may not be just a body shell, I can’t tell from the single picture provided. The ad never states that it is, plus also says that Fuel is Gas and Transmission is Manual.
