Free Field Finds! Sebastopol Giveaways

seb1

Reader Klakta has uncovered these free, yes, free cars being given away in Sebastopol, California. There are five cars available, including the 1969 Opel GT shown above. As the seller says, “Actually, it is only FREE in one way, as it is sort of stuck in the ground. Clear Title though.
Bring muscled friends, a colorful vocabulary, probably a jack, a shovel or two, a trailer or car carrier with a strong winch, and a passion for these mini corvettes.” You’ll find the advertisement here on craigslist if you’re interested. But the Opel isn’t what intrigues me the most–it’s some of the other vehicles!

Not just one or two, but three 1966 Ford Rancheros are also free for the taking! Nothing against the Opel, but I’d really like to get my hands on those car-trucks. Unfortunately the ad doesn’t picture all three, and there’s no picture at all of the 1970’s Cutlass with T-tops that’s also up for grabs, but how can you complain at the price? Let us know if you pick up one or more of these projects!

Opel GT are awesome cars, we’ve got “lots” of them here in Norway, worth a few bucks also.

The Rancheros are kind of intriguing. I always liked the Falcon-based American Utes!

Sebastopol is too long a drive for me to make to collect the upper half of an Opel GT, though. I once found a Frogeye Sprite in similar circumstances outside of Seattle. From 100 feet away, it looked darn near new. Once you got closer, it was clear that below the door, there was simply nothing left.

Once again, cool stuff. Wrong coast. :) Those Rancheros might be something.

Another great Craigslist ad! Five cars mentioned but only 3 pictures. For anyone who goes after that lovely Opel, not only will the remains of the car be free, but you and your friends will most likely get an insane case of poison oak, which surrounds it. If you bring a couple of goats, (not GTO’s!), they will gobble up the poison oak while you figure out the best way to exhume the body.
