FWD Fun: 1969 Saab Sonett V4

1969 Saab Sonett Ii V4

Rear wheel drive is the preferred layout for many enthusiasts, but here is one front wheel drive car we would love to own. It is a 1969 Saab Sonett II and it is in good condition. It only has 77k miles and the seller is asking $5,375. Find it here on Denver's craigslist. We emailed the seller for more information and they said that the car had been in storage for 25 years. They dug it out and got it running by bypassing the fuel tank. It is going to take some work to make it road worthy again, but it may be well worth it. Continue for a video of the seller starting it up.

These cars are fairly rare with only around 1,600 Sonnet II V4s built. It features the running gear from the Saab 96, but has a lightweight fiberglass body attached with a sportier interior. Some people have bashed the styling of these cars, but we can almost see a little TVR in there. It is a unique little car and that sky blue color will really help you stand out amongst all the red cars at your next vintage road rally.

Hmmm, I have one of these in MY barn, also a ’69, but built for ice racing. The chassis is pretty much Swiss cheese, as it is on most Sonetts. My selling price would be a bit lower.
