Garage Find: 1969 Chevrolet Camaro

This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro has been parked in a shed since 2005. After lying dormant for all of those years, the owner has been able to kick the car back into life and has now decided to sell it. Located in Tyler, Texas, you will find the Camaro listed for sale here on eBay. At the time of writing, bidding is sitting at $10,900, but the reserve hasn’t been met.

The photos that the owner supplies aren’t that great, but he also supplies this YouTube video, which provides a really good walk around of the car. It has its share of dings and dents, but the worst of the rust seems to be confined to both quarter panels. The green vinyl top is also quite shredded, but the overall impression of the car is quite promising. The Frost Green paint has deteriorated quite badly, but with the panels whipped back into shape, the vinyl replaced, and a fresh coat of paint, this would be a very attractive vehicle.

There are some aspects of the interior of the Camaro that don’t look too bad, while there are also some that look pretty sick. The good points include the fact that the dash and pad, the door trims, and the passenger and rear seat don’t look too bad. The driver’s seat is going to need a new cover, while a new headliner will also need to be placed on the shopping list. The rest of it looks like it could be cleaned, and the end result would be pretty good.

Under the hood is what is believed to be a numbers-matching 307ci V8, which is hooked to a TH350 automatic transmission. A nice little treat is the inclusion of factory air conditioning. The Camaro has been sitting unused and unloved since 2005, but the owner has managed to breathe new life into the car. It now starts and runs, and can move under its own power. He even supplies this YouTube video, and the car sounds quite nice. He has also recently rebuilt the original carburetor, which I would assume was part of the process of getting the car running again.

If this Camaro can be returned to a solid mechanical state, it appears as though there is no other work required on the car that would be classed as urgent. That means that the new owner could drive the car as it is during the Summer, and then undertake a restoration during the colder months. Alternatively, they could choose to get it back to good mechanical health and leave it exactly as it is permanently. Either way, it is sure to attract plenty of attention.

I think the most unusual thing about this car is having the TH350 hooked up to the 307…thought most were hooked up to a powerglide…or 3 speed…from the pix and video, looks fairly solid…nice find!

a turbo 350 would be fairly common by 69 in a V8 powered Camaro, Nova or Chevelle for 69. According to chevy by numbers they were used on a trial basis in many 68 chevies.. put a set of 305 HO heads, a small cam, and carb, with headers, and an aluminum intake, and that 307 would wake up!

In the 80s we’d buy cars like this for less than two grand and drive them hard. Who knew they’d become more expensive than some brand new cars.

Time will tell if this last or if some people will be pretty regretful a few years hence. I’m leaning towards the latter but pulling for the former. It would be really nice to see long suffering blue collar Americans retain this prosperity. Voting is important.

Bummer , the 307 is not the best Small Block , looks like a real base model with the hubcaps

307 engines were a plenty in 69. Both cars and pickups had them. They were good engines just not power houses. I bought a 69 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup from a Kelly tire store that had been used as a take to the job tire repai/replace truck with compressor in the back. It had the 307 with three speed standard transmission. It wasn’t the prettiest truck but it was a good truck. Well anyway this Camaro is a good candidate for renewal.
    God bless America

Notice the recent title change ? Pretty sure this the same one that sat outside a ladies house and was known by a lot of guys all thinking they’d be the one
After she passed the family moved it down the street saying it was still not for sale.

$14,200 ending bid and unsold. For a base 307 Camaro that needs a ton of work. That money buys a lot of really good cars.

That’s a pile of money for a 307 automatic complete needing of restoration carmaro!! In my opinion they should have taken the money and ran!!

I keep bidding on these first generation Camaro’s …..and my maximum bid never seems to enough or even close…..I was always able to get my early mustangs relatively inexpensive for halfway decent cars. I don’t get it?
Anybody here have a 67 Camaro project they are looking sell for a reasonable price?
