Nissan introduced the Datsun 240Z in October 1969 in the US market for the 1970 model year. This example is a 1971 Datsun 240Z located in Salem, Oregon. The car is a project and looks to have been sitting in this garage for a while. This Datsun 240Z is listed here on eBay for a Buy It Now Price of $6,900. The car is said to have minimal rust and the seller will consider lower offers through the Make Offer option on eBay. Datsun sold 45,000 Datsun 240Z models in 1970 and 1971 with another 50,000 sold in 1972 and 40,000 sold in 1973. There are 3 days remaining in this listing.
The engine in this Datsun 240Z is not running but is said to turn over freely. If this is the original engine, it is a 2.4 liter inline-6 cylinder called an L24. It was fed by twin Hitachi SU-type carburetors that produced 151 horsepower from the factory. The engine is backed by a manual four speed transmission. A three speed automatic transmission could be optioned but this was fairly rare. Torque output was rated at 146 lb ft from the factory. The Datsun 240Z was fitted with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes and had an estimated top speed of 125 mph. Car tests at the time showed the Datsun 240Z reached 0-60 mph in about 8 seconds.
This interior is rough and shows wear, fading and many broken items. The carpet was removed to show the floorboards which show floorboards. The seller needs to add videos and more pictures. The car looks pretty crusty and will require a personal inspection to see the undercarriage. I remember looking at a Datsun 240Z when I was in college. It was white with a black interior. When the seller started it up, it sprung a gas leak with the hood up that look like a geyser!. I figured on my limited budget that this was not the car for me at the time. However, I have always admired the looks and design on the Z car. The body is said to be very straight by the seller with all the glass intact.
This Datsun 240Z looks like it has 4 flat tires and is riding on slotted mags. I love the blue exterior and this would be the color of my choice. Several of the exterior chrome pieces appear to be missing. The ad states that the car is ready to be taken to the next level. Are you the one to take it to the next level?
