If you’ve been hunting for a clean, largely untouched example of Chevrolet’s personal luxury coupe from the 1970s, this 1974 Monte Carlo might fit the bill. Wearing its original gold paint and white vinyl roof, this car shows just 76,399 miles and appears to have lived a very gentle life. It’s being offered here on eBay and is said to be in excellent driving condition with a clean title and no rust issues to speak of.

This Monte Carlo is powered by the classic 350 cubic inch V8 paired with an automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The seller notes that it starts up, runs, and drives well with no leaks, which is always good to hear from a 50-year-old car. It rides on Chevy Rally wheels with center caps and trim rings, giving it that proper period-correct stance.

The exterior is in exceptional shape for its age, with no dents or visible corrosion. The original Landau vinyl top looks clean and tight, with no rips reported. All of the brightwork, including the bumpers and grille, also appears well preserved. Inside, the white interior has held up nicely, with no major tears and only minor wear reported. Everything works, including the power seats and windows, though the dash pad does have a crack, which is not uncommon for GM cars of this era.

This one is also an original air conditioning car, though the system currently isn’t blowing cold. All parts are present, so a recharge or light servicing might bring it back to life. Underneath, the car is described as clean and rust-free, which further supports its excellent condition.

While Monte Carlos from the mid-‘70s aren’t typically the flashiest muscle cars, they’re increasingly gaining attention for their comfort, drivability, and distinctive styling. This one’s originality and condition could make it a standout at local shows—or just a stylish weekend cruiser.
Would you keep it stock or add a little muscle to this Monte’s golden charm?

Sure looks like this Monte was the inspiration for the Cordoba, which came out the following year. Even both the names evoke European places.
& IMO, the ’68 Camaro was the inspiration for the ’70 Barracuda.
I’ve said both for years. As if Chrysler came up with the 2nd generation Charger and the fuselage cars and then ran out of ideas.
At first glance, this is beautiful looking ‘74 Monte. But, there are a few things that feel a bit off that may bring the claim of “all original condition” into question.
The Monte Carlo crests are missing from the landau rear quarter window area and just above the grille. (And, not sure what the emblem is on the left front fender where the Monte Carlo script badge should be.) Also, the Turbine II wheels were standard on the Monte Carlo Landau, rather than wheel covers or the Rally Wheels shown here. Further, the black dash pad and carpets don’t seem appropriate for a car with the neutral seats, trim, seat belts, door panels, etc.
Certainly, y’all should correct me if I’m wrong, but the all original claim doesn’t seem to match the images to me.
The carpet & dash pad may be dark brown – & correct.
Not to mention, that that is the oddest “white” vinyl top I’ve ever seen! :-)
Nice looking Monte Carlo in sandstone over neutral. Good features that would be well equipped fifty years ago. If it runs as good as it looks you’d have a decent ride.
Nice Monte. I decided to give mine a bit more pep (but mine is a 305, so it desperately needed it). This one I would probably leave as-is and enjoy.
For the record, no A/C system that isn’t blowing cold just needs a charge. There is a leak or something else wrong.
And what’s the price.? Do I have to go searching on eBay or facef–k or cl to get a price? Peace
And the location? Is there some reason for not including both? We shouldn’t have to go to eBay, and believe it or not some of us old timers don’t use Facebook.
Really guys? you can’t click on the link we provide right in the first paragraph?
Looks more like a solid tan rather than a metallic gold; that tan was popular back then. The vinyl roof isn’t white. Nice looking car, though. Agree that the Cordoba had some similarities, but IMHO the Cordoba was a classier, more formal looking car.
Listing ended today, 07/11/2025 @ 2:57 PDT according to eBay. The price was $8,800, reserve unmet.
