Gotta Go: 1966 Chevrolet Impala

1966 Chevrolet Impala

I find myself wanting to know more of the history behind this 1966 Impala that’s offered for sale here on eBay. No reserve bidding has been brisk, and is already over $5,000. The car is located in Porter, Texas and is from an estate sale. Thanks to reader Jim S. for spotting this find! The car looks amazingly original, although I’m guessing it has been repainted at some point. There’s one dent where the left front was run into something; a better body person might be able to repair it; I’d be looking for a good used part. The interior looks well used but taken care of, and the air conditioning compressor looks almost new. While not an SS, it is a two-door example of a cleanly designed all-American coupe that you can get parts for and has good club support. I was lucky enough once to stay in a hotel on a business trip that was hosting the national convention of the 65-66 Full Size Chevrolet Club and they were great folks! Why not pick this example up and join them?

It looks like a terrific find, I wouldn’t complain too loudly that it isn’t an SS . One may find the fender and other parts needed at Desert Valley Auto Parts , it would be rust free like the rest of the car . my opinion is the seller is not a car guy.. this looks like a car that is to be enjoyed

I would clean it up good and put on a nice set of Corvette Rally wheels and drive and enjoy!

I’ve been watching this one for days, and trying to convince a friend to bid on it. 283 with a power glide equals a nice little cruiser.

  4. JW

Yes this would make a nice weekend cruiser for a reasonable price, that is if bidders don’t get money stupid.

I have always preferred the ’66 over the ’65 because of the taillights. This car must have lived in a garage. The front seat looks lived in but cleanable. Clean it up and enjoy. Fix the front dent when you can. This nice car needs a new home.

I have always been an Impala fan I’ve owned at least one for every year from ’58 to ’68 with the exception of a ’59. After sitting here thinking it over, it would be hard to pick out a favorite. My ’66 and my ’64 were both Super Sports. The best deal was one of the ’62’s I had. I paid $25.00 and drove it home. It was great finding these in the early seventies.

Yep JW454,… I’ve owned two 66 Impalas. A four door that was kind of a beater, but not too bad, but it had factory air, power brakes / steering and was a 283 auto,,, nice to drive…The other was a great original Caprice ‘Classic’ 2dr. Hardtop…It was loaded with almost every option and was a 327 / Auto… Great car, I tripled my money on it… I too remember finding these and so many others at giveaway prices back in the day…

    Up to 10k now

  9. blindmarc

Apparently there was an incorrect bid entered. It has been dropped down to $8100 with 17 hours left.

  10. Blindmarc

$10,101 is what it sold for.

I wouldn’t have thought it would go for that much, but hey…they don’t make them in ‘original’ condition anymore…

I bought a brand new 2 dr hart top with 327cu in, 300 hp for $3100 from Brigance chev in Chicago. Great car.
