GT Survivor: 1966 Ford Fairlane GT

66-ford-fairlane-gt-2

Having just 2 owners since new, this ’66 Ford Fairlane GT is claimed to be in original condition and a true Barn Find. The 390 V8 has been spiced up and is backed by a 4 speed gearbox. Looking to be a very clean and straight example, this Fairlane is currently bid up to $7,359 with the reserve not met. Find it here on ebay out of Corvallis, Oregon.

The heart of this Fairlane GT is a 390 cubic inch V8 that is claimed to be the original unit, but has seen some upgrades over time. The Engine bay looks nice, and there are plenty of nice things to look at under the hood. The dual quad intake setup grabs your attention, along with the various chrome, and other bits. With a wide array of upgrades, this Fairlane looks like a joy to drive.

The interior looks surprisingly clean and original, with only a few auxiliary gauges added overtime.  The seats look nice, though they look they could stand a solid cleaning from a steam cleaner. The interior doesn’t look to suffer from sun fade or much damage. The driver seat is ripped and we are guessing that over time the headliner fell and was removed. Install a headliner, and repair the drivers seat, and you will have a very nice original interior. The body of this Fairlane looks great, and is almost hard to believe that it wears original paint.  The paint, chrome, and trim look fantastic, giving a flawless appearance.

This Ford Fairlane Gt is in awesome condition , and is likely a ball to drive.  We wonder what will be the final hammer price for this Fairlane. There is a “Buy-it-now” option for $17,950, but it is difficult to predict what may transpire. So what do you think this Fairlane will sell for?

What a cool street rod for $17,950. Factory black on a zero rust Oregon car. Torque Thurst wheels. Plus it still has it’s original big block Ford (w./ add on 2X4s – how cool) and Top Loader 4 speed. If I had the coin to spare I’d jump on this in a heartbeat.

I would love to own this one. Love these cars and the Galaxy’s of the same era.

These were pretty light, sharing some structure with Falcons and Mustangs. The 390 4v motor had higher cr, and I think bigger heads and cam. Pretty strong compared to the GM intermediates because they were lighter. In 67, the made a few with 427’s. Scarey fast.

Never much of a ford guy but I always liked the Fairlane 500. could do without the pipes in front of the back wheel though. Beautiful car!

Love it, guy in our Sonic’s cruise night has a red one and it’s awesome as well. I would replace the headliner, fix the seat and tidy up the wiring some, move the exhaust to the rear of car then enjoy it.

It is missing the GT rocker panel stripe and the chrome bodyside molding didn’t come on a GT. Still looks like a pretty decent car. Under the hood could definitely use some tidying up of the wiring.

Looks like someone added power disc brakes with a ’67 dual master cyl.
It has the 5th didgit “S” code in the VIN for the 390 eng.
It has the factory 4-speed floor panel in the trunk where it was removed for the Hurst “Super Shifter” clearance.
    Nice car.

My best friend bought a 65 a couple of years ago, and its a great car, white sport coupe, red interior, V-8, auto, the car draws a crowd, and has even got several awards at various shows.
I would highly recommend this 66, I think the price is fair, and it would make a super fun car to drive, and work on, and should maintain its value.
