GTC or LX? 24K-Mile 1994 Chrysler LeBaron

Emerald Green Pearl Coat is such a classic 1990s color, isn’t it? It looks great here on this late third-generation LeBaron. These cars were as thick as Canadian wildfire smoke in 2025 a couple of decades ago, but are rarely seen on the roads today. The seller has this incredible, low-mile 1994 Chrysler LeBaron GTC LX Convertible posted here on craigslist in Parma, Ohio, and they’re asking $9,500. Here is the original listing, and thanks to Mitchell G. for the tip!

First things first, can there be both a GTC and an LX in the same car? They’re separate trim levels, but the seller has this one listed as a GTC LX. I believe it’s an LX, specifically a “Bright LX”, with a chrome grille, chrome in the body side moldings, and chrome badges. The GTC received body-color features. Not to mention, an embossed GTC along each side of the door trim, as on this car. Sadly, there is no rear view of this car to see the GTC lettering on the right side of the trunk lid, if there is such a thing on this car.

The third-gen cars were made from 1986 for the 1987 model year until the end of 1995. The 1993 through 1995 models got flush headlights with replaceable bulbs rather than hidden headlights. They came in this one body style in either a hardtop or convertible, but there was a variation based on the Dodge Spirit and Plymouth Acclaim, a four-door LeBaron.

The interior looks as perfect as the exterior does, and this car is said to have just 24,667 miles. We don’t get to see the back seat or trunk, or any underside photos, but they make up for it by providing an engine photo. This car is showing 15″ wheel covers and white letter tires, an unusual combination for sure. This car is a bit of a mystery, and missing photos don’t help the matter. A VIN would also help.

The engine is a Mitsubishi-sourced 3.0-liter SOHC V6 with 142 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. Backed by a four-speed automatic sending power to the front wheels, it’s said to run and drive perfectly. I’m guessing this is an LX rather than a GTC, what do you think?

It’s a LX model. The GTC had alloy wheels no wheel covers. And yes the grille was darker not chrome. Ok.. I drove a Model like this with those type of seats. We call them marshmallow because it was white and they were soooo comfortable!! And you could fall asleep! ๐Ÿ˜‚ The 3.0 is a good engine. As long you did the maintenance on it! Like the usual oil changes and tune ups. They can run forever. Plenty of power and decent gas mileage so long as you stay out of the gas pedal๐Ÿ˜‚. The price is very fair a good place to start. The mileage is unreal. Would you let a car like this sit in the garage? Another one i would not mind having. It’s only 5 hours away! ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Agree based on the wheel covers. Iโ€™ve had many big these cars and it โ€œkillsโ€ me looking at the prices these are starting to pull in these days that I got rid of the ones Iโ€™ve owned. There was once a day you could pick one of these up for $3K with not too much mileage and have a good daily driver. Easy to work on; parts are readily available; pretty good fuel economy and the price point was always reasonable. They were a good value for the dollar. Earlier models did have a glitch with the convertible top motor but beyond that just a great car. Times have have changed!

The RWL tires add at least 5mph to the top speed!

Thanks, guys! I didn’t think it was a GTC, but it’s nice to have that confirmed. I’m assuming a GTC convertible may be more valuable than an LX, but I could be wrong. $9,500 seems a big strong here, but maybe it’s Pawn Stars or American Pickers pricing, where they’re expecting offers of half that amount.

It’s not a GTC but it is a very nice LX convertible. Great colors with the white top and interior. Though they suffered from a little cowl shake these were a delightful car to drive. I’d own It in a minute.

My memory has lapsed on this model….did this become the Sebring?

The Chrysler LeBaron was discontinued after the 1995 model year. It was replaced by the Chrysler Cirrus and Sebring models.

Sleek car. Price seems a little steep. Why no stick in these? Lack of interest, or something else?

These did offer a 5-speed early on by this time the take rate would have been small. Even Daytonas were becoming mostly automatic by ’94.

Bought a used 95 for my wife in 97, I liked it, she not so much, did keep it for about 3yrs, never had any issues.

Thanks for the great comments, folks! I didn’t think it was a GTC, but sometimes we have to take a seller’s word on things, and it can end up biting us (me) in the rear.
