Heraldic Pair: 1964 Triumph Herald Convertibles

h1

Sporting an odd polka-dot pattern and running and driving with 25+ years of receipts, this 1964 Triumph Herald convertible is nonetheless begging to be put back on the road. I’d have to get it running as-is and take it to my local Triumph club meeting just to see the stares! The seller even claims that the engine and transmission are rebuilt, sweetening the pot that much more. As long-time Barn Finds readers know, my wife owns a 1963 Herald that is very similar to this one, albeit in a little better cosmetic shape. It even sports the same original color (see the firewall) and has also been previously repainted a very light blue like this car, and it originally came from California. Thus my obvious interest in this one! Unlike our car, though, this one comes with a parts car as well. Some people would view it as restorable as well, but I’ll let you make your own decisions about that. In the attached pictures, the parts car is white, and while you can see the rusty floors, remember that a Herald is body-on-frame construction, so even the parts car may be relatively solid underneath. You can find this pair in Sacramento, California, and they are being sold here on eBay where the buy-it-now is only $1,300 and the seller is willing to consider lower offers. Let us know if you take these home–I would have bought them rather than writing them up if they were closer to me!

We have a Herald also. We actually purchased this one, http://barnfinds.com/1964-triumph-herald-want-to-be-popular/

They are fun cars to drive. Realistically if you could buy this for 900-1000, you could have it back in Boise in two days.

Why are deals like this always on the wrong side of this great, vast country of ours? :)

Andy, check out the one that just posted in Columbus, Ohio…it’s at least closer to you!

Ignore my previous reply; I just found the “Columbus” car. When I decide to take on a project of that magnitude, I’ll dig into my barn, where the Herald dad bought new in ’64 awaits the kind of work that only sentimentality can justify! Not that the Columbus car is beyond hope, but I realistically have enough project Heralds already. (Ok, that’s never stopped me before, but…. ;) )
