The Porsche 993 generation is celebrated as the last of the air-cooled 911s, combining classic lines with modern refinement. This 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet, now offered here on eBay, represents a true driver’s car. With its 6-speed manual gearbox, naturally aspirated 3.6-liter flat-six, and timeless black over tan color combination, it offers everything enthusiasts love about the 993, wrapped in a convertible package perfect for open-air cruising.

According to the seller, this car has lived its entire life in California before moving east, and despite its remarkable 341,000 miles, it still runs strong on its original motor. Porsche’s air-cooled engines are legendary for their durability when properly maintained, and this example stands as proof of that reputation. The seller notes that while there are some expected oil leaks, the car continues to perform well, underscoring just how robust the 993 platform really is.

The interior wears a classic tan leather finish, showing the elegant yet functional design that Porsche perfected in the mid-1990s. With two previous owners, the car appears to have been cared for throughout its long service life, and even with its high mileage, it presents as a well-loved and usable driver rather than a fragile collector piece. The 6-speed manual transmission remains one of the most desirable aspects of this car, delivering a direct, engaging connection that modern automatics simply can’t replicate.

The 3.6L flat-six produces 272 horsepower in stock form, delivering a smooth and flexible powerband that makes the 993 both rewarding on backroads and comfortable on longer trips. Combined with rear-wheel drive and Porsche’s finely tuned suspension, the Carrera 2 Cab provides a driving experience that many still consider one of the high points in 911 history.

This particular car is not a garage queen, it’s a high-mileage survivor that has been used as intended. For some collectors, that makes it even more appealing: a 911 that has proven itself over decades and remains ready to be driven today. While it isn’t flawless, it represents a chance to own one of the last true air-cooled 911s at what is likely to be a more accessible entry point compared to lower-mileage examples.

Would you restore this 993 to showroom condition, or embrace its high-mileage charm and continue enjoying it as a driver?

It is good to see one that has been enjoyed!
341k miles on the odometer and asking for $45,000.00? Hmmmmmm let me think about it…….NOPE!!!
Get the checkbook out…you’re gonna be needing it!!!!
@KC – Porsche market doesn’t care about miles. All about overall condition for air cooled whether it is 50k or 500k.
Err, or you could spend not much more and get a sub 100k mile Carrera 4.
