Wide body kits on Corvettes may or may not be to your liking, but they sure make the cars stand out! This 1972 Corvette started as a factory convertible and had a Greenwood-style wide body kit added. This one had an engine fire that damaged the paint on the hood (and quite possibly the hood itself) but if it is solid underneath it might make a fun custom ‘Vette! Find it here on craigslist in Casper, Wyoming for $6,500.
The black paint sure isn’t show quality but it has about the right amount of gloss to make it look like a Batmobile! I know, Batman never drove anything like this, but those exaggerated line from the body kit make it look like a crime-fighting machine! Maybe a few dome shaped windshields are in order! The seller tells us that this car is a real head turner and unfortunately had an engine fire which lead to it sitting in a backyard filled with lots of gas powered toys. This begs the question: how long has it been sitting there?
The underhood shot reveals a Chevy 350 and an automatic transmission that is covered in plenty of dust. Maybe I’m not looking hard enough but I don’t see much charred wiring here. I see a master cylinder that looks like it was pulled from the bottom of a lake along with an air filter assembly but not much else. Hopefully that fire was contained quickly.
The back of this car leaves me a touch confused though as it looks like the original tail lights were covered up and other lamps were added to the back of the body kit, maybe because no one could see the edges of the wide fenders after dark! I don’t see this body kit adding any value to this car so if you took on this restoration/repair you’d be under water quickly. But it might be a fun toy to cruise around in, if you are the caped crusader!
In the ad they state, ‘It’s an easy restore project.’ Wish I had there talent.
Yuck.
Wide body kit. The Kim Kardashian of Vettes.
Squat and ugly with a fat @$$?
Sure looks like the one from Sept. 7th.

Yep, this was already featured on Sept 7th, 2017. WHY is it featured again??
Complete waste of a 72 Corvette.
I wonder how hard it would be to remove all of that crap.
Impossible, you would need to get new body panels and graft them on were the modifed ones were.
Holy horrible body kit, Batman.
This was on before, all melted behind air filter , is it an lt-1 350?, Auto, Fire , ugly, nogo.
I believe we have saw this one before which isn’t a surprise the current owner hasn’t sold it yet.
The Corvette was still an expensive car in the late 70’s to the mid 1980’s at least to a young kid making a whopping $6.65 an hour while going to college. It didn’t matter to me if I had a 78 or a 72 they all looked the same to the novice walking down the street. You still got a wave at passing other Corvette owners (now wave at other Scion xB owners Ha)
That being said it is amazing to note that someone customizing one had to have money to buy a nice driver and cut it up. My guess most customs were most likely wrecked in their previous life then built into Frankenstein’s like this. Which cool at the time (when these were cool) an oddity of excess now. Hard to believe a once coveted custom ended up being left to the elements.
They say if you don’t have anything good to say, say nothing at all. So I should really be quiet, but I can’t. This is one huge POS. I wish the seller luck with it.

Best I can say is it’s not to my taste and something I would not want around.
Batman. Sinister. Dark. Keep Gotham safe.
These wide body kits were “BOSS” back in the 70’s!
This could be made to look pretty sinister, with some work.
I don’t like the wing, nor the ugly reflectors on rear, but the body kit
is cool to me,cuz they were cool/popular when I was a kid in mid 70’s.
Price seems a bit high for the shape it’s in,they could have cleaned it
up a bit ?..?This could be really cool with some elbow grease.
This wouldn’t be just another old Vette at a show..!
Junk
Someone spent a lot of money to devalue a car. Ugly and wouldn’t be seen in it. That being said, if it floats your boat go for it.
easy restoration Nothing easy about it
Find a nice donor body.
too bad
3 out of every 10 cars here on this site are wrecked Corvettes. That no one wants. We will have to set better posting rules otherwise there could be profanity.0
That is blasphemy. Could never do that to one of my c3,s. I agree with the comments and like the kardashian corvette name. Wide and ugly.

Somebody ruined a valuable car.
Really don’t see a small block/automatic C3 as a “valuable” car of this year-’72 was the year of doom for these cars.Insurance companies and political dictatorship killed high horsepowered fun coming from Detroit.Took years to get it back.
A Corvette posting in which NO ONE mentions numbers matching. This car has very little to recommend it. An unfortunate redesign of a car which required no changes at all.
It would sell today if he’d knock 3 grand off the price. Would make a good autocross car or a rat rod to bomb around the back roads on the weekends.
This is what hot rodding is all about. If you don’t like something like this Vette, good for you.Stay away.If ya do,go for it.Not too many of these wide body kit cars running around.
