Huge Parts Hoard: Austin-Healey, MG and Triumph Parts

Barn Finder TriPowerVette spotted this interesting buy, so thank you so much for that. If you are a British car enthusiast, then this is a listing guaranteed to make your eyes sparkle. The owner of this collection has decided to clear the lot, and it is quite a collection. You will find it listed for sale here on eBay. It is located in Yorktown, Virginia, and the owner has set a BIN price of $14,000, but the option is there to make an offer.

It’s virtually impossible to know where to start with this collection. Let me just say that you aren’t going to rock up and throw this lot in the back of a pickup. This lot will fill at least one shipping container, and I’m deadly serious about that. Some of the items are new, while some are good second-hand parts. The vast majority are for British vehicles, but there are a few smaller Porsche parts in there for good measure. There are panels for a number of different Austin-Healey models, as well as MGA, Triumph TR3, and TR4. There are doors, fenders, new floors, new rockers, soft-tops and frames, hardtops, grilles, chrome trim, and glass.

There are also at least three complete Austin-Healey engines, an MGA engine, along with engine blocks and a multitude of different transmissions. Some of these items are quite rare and sought-after, including both center-shift and side-shift Austin-Healey transmissions. Some come with overdrive units, while some don’t. The owner estimates the value on these alone to be in excess of $16,000.

This box is another good example of what the owner has on offer. As you can see, some of the items are new, while others are good used items. This box is just 1 of 43 that also comprise part of the inventory. There are also items such as a new set of Porsche 911 tail-light lenses, new Jaguar XKE rubber floor mats, new slave cylinders, new MGB piston rings, new caliper repair kits, and so much more.

This collection represents an incredible opportunity. This is probably not something that your average collector would be looking for, but if you ever wanted to open a business specializing in classic British car parts, then here is your chance to obtain all of your stock in one place. Are there any Barn Finders out there who are tempted to invest in this collection?

Is it sad that this looks remarkably like my shop, except it’s almost all Triumph parts and there are more of them?

I wonder what he wants for the golf clubs.

Yup, I was in this exact boat two years ago with a pole barn loaded with British inventory. The MGA’s were sold off. I gave another guy a pickup load of Triumph parts, and basically scrapped the rest, Why?, because nobody was interested in the parts although several said they sure could use this stuff. Nobody ever showed up, I would have given them for free. Guess there’s too many tire kickers and big talkers who probably cant turn a wrench. I’m not upset, I had my fun with these, age is catching up rapidly. Still have two MGA transmissions.

I value my garage space the older I get, it just looks like clutter to me now.

Not worth anywhere near 14k. The British craze is over now, should’ve sold this off in around 2006-7 and could’ve made a killing! My friend Dave has a place like this but all his stuff is NOS, mostly TR6 stuff. If you’re gonna hoard, used isn’t where the money’s at. I don’t miss my garage looking like this at all. Personally , just looking at a TR6 nowadays makes me kinda nausious…glad my days of working on lbc’s is over…

People usually don’t do the math when they price big stashes. The math never lies, even if you don’t like the answer. I’ve bought whole collections, whole warehouses of parts, tractor trailer loads, but the math has to work. I don’t know British stuff but based on what people are saying here, this guy does not have math on his side.

Very well put, Adam! After looking at my shop again, I really wish the seller WERE correct. I’d be able to retire…

Three grand delivered to my home in U.K and will take it. If they catalogue it too.

If you got everything given to you and spent 20 years putting the best of the individual pieces on Ebay you would almost pay for the hours spent however, the thought of trashing my similar collection of LBC parts breaks my heart.

I still have a locked up 1500 MGA block in the old garage. There’s an even older creeper under it. Oh, and a dash that had an extra hole cut in it hanging there. I get it.
