Identity Crisis: 1959 MGA Coupe

1959 MGA Coupe

This poor MGA Coupe seems to be having a bit of an identity crisis, wouldn’t you say? A previous owner must have wished they owned a Corvette rather than an MG, so they installed some Corvettesque side trim. I guess it is unique! Sadly this car also has rust issues, but with bidding at less than $2k, it might be worth snagging just for parts! Find this MGvetta here on eBay in Springfield, Missouri.

That what you’d call “an ambitious project…” Do you know for sure if its a 1500 or 1600? If the sills are that far gone its a fair bet the chassis will not be in a good way. The front bodywork around the grill needs some straightening which won’t be easy. I do commend the previous owners imagination in adding the Corvette strips. A novel take. I can imagine the dark blue body colour would look quite striking if the area surrounded by the strips were to be painted a soft OEW….. Flame away people, only my opinion :-)

It seems to be a 1500 because of the single rear lights and the shelf behind the seats under the rear window.
