Inexpensive Wagon: 1965 Plymouth Fury

Long-time Barn Finds readers know I love big old station wagons, and this Fury is certainly one of them. I find a large wagon incredibly useful and miss the fact that we don’t currently have one. Yes, there’s a minivan in the family–shame, shame! This car looks like a really solid, usable Mopar wearing it’s original paint for not a lot of cash. The Fury is located in sunny Petaluma, California and is for sale here on eBay with an opening bid of $995 and a buy-it-now price of $1,395. The 318 V-8 and 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission are out of the car, but the seller is willing to install them for shipment. There are some readily available parts missing, like a carburetor, distributor, and radiator, but at this price and if it were in North Carolina, I’d be hitting the buy-it-now button right now. Let us know you do!

Not really a fan, Jamie, so I will graciously step away and allow you to bid!

No rust, perhaps (my experience looking at Mopar cars of that era suggests otherwise), although the leading edge of the hood appears to have a little. And what’s up with the right fenderwell in the underhood shot? I’d look carefully for some crash damage.

Big wagons have never been my thing. Well, there was this Audi RS2, but it wasn’t really “big”….

Jamie, I got to agree with you on this one. If it were here in NC, I’d be looking seriously at this one. I’m looking for a car for the oldest grand daughter so I’d give her my car and keep the big wagon for myself !!

I figure at that price it’s completely trashed. I’m OK with that :-) Trent, you’d have to race me to it!

If it were closer to me, it would already be in my driveway.

I was just in Petaluma several weekends ago – lots of neat old cars in that town. I can certainly imagine this one being tucked away there somewhere.

Nice old Mopar wagon, a bargain for the asking price IMO. I know the Petaluma area and I agree with Todd there are a lot of nice older rides in the area. Local cars would be mostly rust free, maybe a bit of surface rust on some but this is a norcal area with a pretty good year round climate.

Yes the 440 can be installed. But it is a very detailed swap. A lot of auxilary parts have to be changed.

Wow what a crossroad! I just bought a 68 Coronet Convertible off of ebay out of Petaluma , it is pale yellow with black eveything else. I picked it up with my 66 Fury Wagon, which i sold afterwards for 500 bucks, it had a 99 Magnum 318 , which by the way bolted right up to the old 727 and exaust manifolds. It had an aftermarket aluminum intake for the AFB and a 3.23 Suregrip for the 15″ steelies. Couldn’t keep them both , so the rusty one went.
