With the C2 just coming to the market the year before, the 1964 Chevrolet Corvette didn’t receive all that many cosmetic changes from the prior model, but that way cool split rear window on the coupe and the non-functional hood vents were history. Nonetheless, the ’64 did smash all previous sales records, as did the ’63 the year before, so buyers were definitely liking Chevy’s sports car offering more and more. If you’ve been waiting for the right mid-sixties ‘Vette and like convertibles, this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette here on eBay may be just what the doctor ordered. It’s presently in Saint Cloud, Florida, with bidding having reached $50,100 so far. That’s more than enough for a sale, so the high bidder will be the next owner of this one.
The history of this car can be traced back all the way to new, as it’s only had 2 owners and spent most of its early years down in Puerto Rico. The second owner purchased it in 2018 and moved the car to Florida, with both owners housing the car in a garage. 3,121 of the 22,229 Corvettes made in ’64 left the factory in Silver Blue, with this being one of them, although it has had one respray at some point in the past. The owner says the body is in great condition, a rather strong proclamation, but as I stare at the exterior there’s very little that leads me to believe otherwise.
Four versions of the 327 were available in 1964, with the fuel-injected L84 reigning as king. But the next best was the L76, which was factory rated 365 horsepower, just 10 HP less than its big brother fuelie. This is said to be the original numbers-matching L76 we’re seeing under the hood, with the odometer reading 44k miles, though it’s not stated if that’s actual or if it’s on the second trip around. No word on whether or not the small block has ever had a rebuild, but if the mileage is actual perhaps it’s never had the need yet. This one’s also got the 4-Speed manual transmission.
Things inside are looking about as good as outside, with the interior either having been refreshed or really well taken care of through the years. The seller does refer to the car as highly original, so maybe most of what you see in there are the factory components. More good news comes from down below, as we get to see several shots from the south side, which seem to show a solid undercarriage. I tend to agree with the seller when he says this Corvette is every collector’s dream and a rare gem in this condition. What are your thoughts on this one?
I don’t know where you got these hp numbers from but I’ve seen them to be 340hp and 360 hp with fuel injection that’s 20 more not 10hp
Nope, 365 and 375 for ’64.
There was a 250 hp motor available in a 1964 vette. I just googled to make sure. I had a 64 with the low hp motor and a power glide. It also had ac, ps, pb, and electric windows. It was bought to cruise.
I have a 65 250hp, 4 speed coupe
Other big difference in 64 was sound isolation between body and frame. 63’s were rushed to market. In a ’63, you hear everything.
This is now for sale in multiple posts for $70K and $60K
Nice car. Love the color!
Would look great parked next to my C5, unfortunately too much $$.
Someone will have a ton of fun with it.
The runt of the litter ’64’s. But for those that know, it’s one of the best and certainly the best value. I’ve had mine for 21 years now and would only trade it for a coupe of the same year. Coolest gauges by far, nicest non-big block hood, best looking interior and more refined than the ’63’s as mentioned above. Only thing lacking is disc brakes which can be added easily enough. And silver/blue is stunning in person. Black is my favorite color but Silver/blue never looks dirty.
As usual the chrome cover for distributor is gone , however I still have mine from my old 64. Also does the fan belt look funny
Nice looking Vette. Missing ignition shield.
I bid on this car up to $50,000 I’m sure it will go way past that.I had a 64 the same color combination but with rally wheels in the early 80’s it had a beautiful lacquer paint job on it sold it to a friend of mine for $7,500 to put a down payment on my first house, the corvette prices jumped up right after I sold it he sold it two years later for $20,000 from what I hear it still looks as good as when I had it. I regretted selling it immediately after I sold it. I bought a 60 project car in 86 and finished it in 97 I still have it but still like the C2’s better than the C1’s
Look at the Ebay pics. Someone has added Plate Steel over the center of Differential Crossmember. Did,nt bother to grind down jagged edges. Looks Shabby. Odd place for Rust to be maybe Stress Cracked in that Member??
I had one and it was a mild custom to this one and sold it in 85 for 5000 cash and thought i was rich. It also came with hard top.
