L79 Corvette Power! 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air

Tri-Five Chevys are among the most desirable classic cars around. When that car is a 1957 2-door Bel Air, it takes it over the top. This one needs a bit of work, but with the rarity of these cars, finding a better project would be difficult. It can be found here on eBay with a current bid of nearly $8,000. Located in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, it has apparently been garaged since 1972! It looks like it should be a winner for the new owner. Check it out!

The only photos of the interior are from outside the car, but there are quite a few up close (mostly blurry) shots of the floors. The seller is up front in saying that there are some rust issues, but it doesn’t look too far gone. There are aftermarket patch panels readily available for these cars. The frame is supposedly solid with the rust being part of the lower body and floors/supports.

The engine is a 1965 L79 from a Corvette. It measures 327 cubic inches and is rated at 350 horsepower. Apparently the previous owner got the low-mileage engine from a wrecked car. Unfortunately, the seller says the engine is seized and is in “unknown condition.” A prospective buyer had better plan on a new engine or a complete rebuild of this one. Maybe they’ll get lucky and some oil in the spark plug holes will free it up.

The only missing trim is for the windshield and the seller is also including a bunch of extra parts. Fenders, windshield, stainless trim, new gas tank, springs, and more! I’m not surprised this car is seeing strong bidding. Projects like this are getting harder to find. If you’ve wanted a ’57 Chevy of your own, you may want to jump at this one! What do you think?

    Looks to be pretty solid for a car in the rust belt!! I agree with GPC though!! Stick a 4 or 5 speed and drive it the way it is!! At least you can park it where ever you want!!!
