Low-Mile Drop-Top: 1992 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

Disclosure: This site may receive compensation from some link clicks and purchases.

It’s getting harder to find third-gen Camaros that haven’t been ridden hard, modified, or simply used up over the last three decades, which makes this 1992 Chevrolet Camaro convertible stand out right away. Listed here on craigslist, the seller claims just 32,000 original miles, and based on the short description, this one seems to have lived a much easier life than most. It’s located in Florence, Arizona, and is offered with a clean title.

The car is equipped with a V8 engine, automatic transmission, and all the typical early-’90s convenience features—air conditioning, power windows, power brakes, tilt steering, and cruise control. According to the seller, it both looks and runs great, which is exactly what you want to hear when dealing with a 32-year-old convertible that has survived in what sounds like excellent condition. They list the car as “excellent,” and unlike many Camaros from this era, this one hasn’t been described as a project, a back-burner restoration, or something that needs work before being driven.

The odometer shows 32,000 miles, and the listing emphasizes that the mileage is original. That kind of number puts this Camaro in the same company as the more collectible survivors—cars that were kept indoors, driven sparingly, and maintained instead of modified. Add in the fact that it’s a 1992, the final model year for the third-generation Camaro, and you’ve got something that’s only getting harder to replace.

The exterior is finished in white, and the car is a convertible, which gives it an entirely different feel compared to the more common coupes of the period. These drop-tops have a loyal following, especially when they haven’t been beaten into the ground. With rear-wheel drive and a factory V8, the car should offer the laid-back, torquey experience these cars are known for, especially paired with the automatic.

If the seller’s description is accurate, this Camaro might be a great choice for someone who wants a turn-key ‘90s cruiser rather than a project. It’s rare to find one that hasn’t been passed down through multiple teenage owners or turned into a drag strip experiment. A clean, stock-style, low-mile example will always have appeal—especially at a price point like this.

Would you daily-drive a survivor like this, or keep it tucked away for weekend cruises?

This one looks really good and the 3rd gen Camaro is a solid driver. GM built these as drivers, they handled quite well. The bad is I don’t think the plastic held up as well as Ford’s in that era. To this cars credit it all looks very good. This one was taken care of and next owner should have a great car for weekend cruise. It’s all about smiles per mile!

I am with ya Cadmanls, this is one slick little cruiser that needs no more than a tank of gas. Just need to scrape up some white framed oakley shades and, if you can dig deep enough back in the attic, perhaps a pair of Bugle Boy jeans?

No pink or neon green shorts though…I miss the 90’s, last of the good decades!

C’mon now. Where’s the TPI? Can’t tell me it didn’t exist. But that TBI is a huge let down. Other than that and missing a manual, one nice clean ride. Good luck with the sale.

Looks like that “Factory V8” is the L03 TBI 305, which is down on HP compared to many modern non-turbo 4 cylinder engines. But although it won’t win any races, the torque will move you along adequately and you will be doing it in style…

Oh yeah, this one is all show and no go, but so was my ’81 Camaro with factory V6, auto, rear spoiler, and rally wheels. I didn’t care, it was my first new car and I could afford it.

This one looks nice, the RS appearance package dresses these base models up quite nicely.
