My grandparents never owned a Cadillac, but I always thought of these huge Cadillacs as old people’s cars. Now that I am getting older, I appreciate their style, spaciousness, and engineering. This 1973 Cadillac Sedan Deville is large, powerful, and gorgeous. It has a reported 22,194 miles on the odometer. This luxury car is powered by a Cadillac 472 cubic inch V8 engine that was rated at 345 horsepower and produced 500 lb-ft of torque. From 1971 to 1973, the horsepower dropped as the compression ratio of these large engines was reduced from 10 to 1 to 8.5 to 1. This change made the 1973 Cadillac compatible with the US edict to run unleaded fuel. The engine compartment looks clean. The seller states that the air conditioner is not working, and the car needs a new muffler. Prior service records are available.
This car appears to be in excellent condition. The gold interior is unique and contrasts interestingly with the white exterior. Sales hit a new record of 216,243 for Cadillac in 1973. Cadillac introduced new energy-absorbing bumpers in 1973. As you can see, the interior is all luxury, with power seats, power windows, power locks, and ample comfortable seating. The tires are said to be in good shape, and the car has been stored indoors. Official length measurements show the vehicle to be 19 feet long so it must have been a big garage that it was stored in!
The word DeVille comes from the French meaning “of town.” So basically, it means it is a town car. The first Cadillac to use the “DeVille” name was in the 1979 Motorama when the Cadillac Coupe de Ville was introduced. I always liked the egg crate grilles on the early 1970 Cadillacs. There are two small rust spots below the rear window. That shouldn’t be too hard to fix. The seller states that they are negotiable. I think there is a need to go down about 25% to 35% to get a deal done.

This is a solid $10,000 car. With working air conditioning and a muffler, it would be much more compelling.
I agree, $10,000. A beautiful low mileage car. Get the A/C working, put dual exhaust on it so it can breathe, preserve it and enjoy it.
With age, comes wisdom. Believe Alfred Sloane said You can sell an old man a young man’s car, but you can’t sell a young man’s car. Even as a kid, I always went for big boats. First family car I remember was a 50 Nash AMBASSADOR, followed by a 55 DeSoto. A local business man had a black 58 Cadillac Sixty Special which was my first dream car. This Deville (interesting how that translates to Town Car) is a great example of Cadillac when it was THE Standard of the WORLD. This is truly a Bon Marche.

The people describing this Cadillac’s Horsepower & Torque should read a manual before speaking! The ratings of the 1973 472 engine was FAR LESS than they’ve listed and as for the “De Ville” being first introduced in 1979 is obviously wrong considering this is a Sedan De Ville 6 years older than the claim! My very first car was a 1973 Cadillac Sedan De Ville and I have had many of these care since 1979 when I had my first one so first off I can say with confidence that this car (even as beautiful as it is) is about $9k over priced! Also,1973 is when the U.S. Steel mills were on strike and the (BIG 4 at that time) had a contract with Japan for the steel they used from Jan/1/1973 thru Dec/31/1973 and this steel was the worst ever and MOST 1973 models rotted out within the first 5 years unless they were built between July and December of 1972. Early 1974 models suffered the same way if built between July and December of 1973! Depending on when this one was built would be a major factor in my decision on buying this one because the rust below the rear window will eat the whole ass end off this car quickly if it’s the Japanese steel, non metallic colors helped because you couldn’t keep metallic paint on these cars and after it started flaking off exposing the crappy steel to the elements they rusted away pretty quickly. These days people put more than 22k miles on their cars a year and even though the drivers seat is like new I still doubt a 51 year old Cadi was only driven that little bit of miles it’s whole life, which would be less than 4500 a year average or only 86.5 miles a week. It’s not impossible for that to be the actual mileage but to me it seems improbable since the original tires aren’t still on it, and the tires that are on it show wear. Still a beautiful car, it’s just way over priced for a 4 door with no vinyl top!
