Luxury Gamble: 1962 Lincoln Continental

1962 Lincoln Continental

After experiencing how luxurious a premium American classic can be, this 1962 Lincoln Continental looked tempting. The engine is claimed to run well, but other than that tidbit the seller doesn’t provide much more information. They do include many photos and mention that interested parties can contact them. The Continental may have started life as a stretched version of the Thunderbird, but what it became was something all its own. The rear suicide doors have made the car iconic today, but they were actually used in order to keep the wheelbase shorter. Later Continentals grew in size, but these early cars were smaller and arguably more handsome than their GM rival. We would all love to own one just to cruise around in, but unless you are in the Columbus, Ohio area, this one could be a big gamble at $6,500 here on eBay. Then again, it if turns out to be solid, it could be a great buy for one of America’s finest luxury machines!

My old man had a Lincoln similar to this, only a little newer. I took my road test on it. The examiner was a little taken back by what I brought to the test, but, really, it was a very easy car to drive. (passed 1st time) Better hurry. It looks as though, the forklift is ready to load it in the crusher!

agree with LMK, to much for the condition, $2500 at best, will probably end up in the crusher for scrap money.

I’ve always wanted one of these but in Black. It worries me he says it runs well, then why does it look as if the unloaded it from that flatbed with a forklift??? Not too smart leaving the forklift in the picture, nope I’ll pass.

I have always thought the suicide door Lincolns were the classiest luxury cars of the 60’s.
