Might Go Cheap: 1962 Lincoln Continental

Nice Lines

From JimmyinTEXAS  – This 1962 Lincoln Continental is not really a barn find, but it is dusty because the dealer that had it has gone out of business and no one was around to dust it off. If I lived in California I wouldn’t be sending this in, I would be bidding on it and wouldn’t need the competition. According to the ad it hasn’t been registered since 2012 so there probably will be fees, but they can’t be that bad, RIGHT? The pictures look great, and I am guessing it is a long time CA car. I won’t mention the black plates to keep down the discussion and associated controversies. Find it here on West Auctions where bidding starts at $5. I hope someone on Barn Finds gets it and loves it as much as I would…

Lot of memories with this one. Each year as a young kid, we would load up in the Country Squire and travel from the FL panhandle to Tallapoosa GA where aunt Marge and Uncle Claude lived. He had a general store with built in barber shop, along with a used car lot (loved the ’51 Merc coupe). Under the carport was a brand new Continental just like this one, and it was a beauty. The general store biz must have been kind to him. I remember that while his home had indoor plumbing, the customers went out back to the two privies!

According to the auctioneer’s site, this has a California “PNO” registration, which stands for “planned non-operation”. This means that the on-road registration sticker is not current, but the registration is current in the DMV files. The buyer would pay the current DMV fees to put it back on a California road, but there are no overdue past fees.

Nice big land yacht! Back in the day if you owned a car like this you were in a class as being quite well off or wealthy. If in fact this is on a California Non Op then it cannot be on any CA roadway/Hwy till he current fees are paid. if caught (cited) on a CA road with expired tags then all back reg. fees have to be paid from when it was first non op, could be costly!

That can’t be the original paint. I love the car but I find it hard to believe that Lincoln would have let someone order a blue car with a red interior. Bleah.
