At first glance, you might think you’re looking at a 1969 Chevelle SS convertible. Look a little closer at the listing details, however, and you’ll find something far more modern underneath. This eBay offering started life as a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible before being transformed into a retro-styled 1969 Chevelle SS tribute with fiberglass bodywork.

Under the custom exterior sits a 2012 Camaro 2SS platform powered by a 6.2-liter L99 V8 rated at 400 horsepower. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission featuring Tap Shift functionality. With just 35,354 miles on the odometer, the drivetrain remains firmly in modern muscle territory despite the classic-inspired appearance.

The exterior is wrapped in Hugger Orange, with gloss carbon fiber wrap applied to the hood and trunk. The car also features ZL1-style 20-inch wheels, wearing 305/30 tires in the rear and 285/30 tires up front. The suspension has been modified with adjustable coil-over struts, and the car is lowered approximately three inches. A muffler delete is also noted among the modifications.

Inside, the black leather interior retains the comfort and technology of the Camaro SS donor car. Features include heated power seats, power windows, electric door poppers, remote start, navigation, cruise control, a heads-up display, Rallye gauges, center console, power trunk, and a Bose 6-speaker sound system with CD player. The convertible top is power-operated and includes a rear defroster.

Safety and handling systems remain consistent with the 2012 platform, including anti-lock brakes, traction control, four-wheel disc brakes, independent suspension, and multiple airbags. The listing also notes a backup camera and parking assistance features.

The result is a blend of vintage styling cues with modern performance, reliability, and convenience. Rather than restoring a classic Chevelle from the ground up, this build delivers classic-inspired aesthetics combined with contemporary drivability and technology.

With a clean title and service history available, this reincarnated Camaro offers something different from both traditional restorations and factory-original examples. It’s neither purely classic nor purely modern, it’s a hybrid of both.

So here’s the question: would you rather have a numbers-matching original ’69 Chevelle, or this modern LS-powered interpretation with today’s comfort and performance built in?

Interrrresting…but that 3/4 view must have looked better on paper than in glass/metal…now it just looks trunkhated…🤷🏼♂️
Couldn’t help thinking of Top Gear describing the Chrysler Crossfire as looking rather like a dog dropping a deuce, similar impression to that rear 3/4 view here.
As one who came up with the 69 Chevelle, there is NO WAY I’d ever mistake this for a real one. The effort is genuine, but the proportions are off, due to the inherent shortcomings of the Camaro platform. Has a humpbacked, chopped look. No, give me the real one! GLWTA!! :-)
Meh.
I like it. Attention to details and great workmanship makes this custom build something that should be a lot of fun.
Buy It Now at $65k, good one!!
This thing just looks off. Way off.
A camaro with a dress up kit no thanks!!!!!
Nice…. Not 65k nice… But interesting…
Four months ago I had a piece of fruit sitting on my front porch, with a face carved on it, that looked just like that!
Jus’ sayn’
While I appreciate the time, work, effort and money that went into this transition am not a fan.
For 65k you can get into a C7 Z06 that will crush the pleasure center of your brain so hard you’ll cry dopamine tears…so no on the funky looking Che-maro.
I have 2 of the modern Bandit Trans Am tributes based on 2010 and 2013 Camaros,(as well as true 78 and 79 Bandits). They are awesome and absolutely loved by the general public ,if not by the keyboard warriors. The company in Florida is now building 70 Chevelles and GTO’s, that are quite nice but very pricey. To my eyes ,this 69 is a fail.It seems like they should have been able to do a much better job on the quarters.
Those modern Bandit Trans Am are awesome cars have seen them in a few different colors that look great would love to own one. Never mind 2 of the modern and 2 of the original you are a lucky man enjoy your Bandits.
It’s always amazing what people spend a lot of money doing.
Are we sure this isn’t just AI?
See? This is why it’s seldom good to do a modern interpretation of a classic. In its defense it may be the best use of a modern Camaro I’ve seen yet.
Maro-lago-velle…quick call the FBI! Someone needs to do a investigation on this one.
Not a fan.
Sure you figured that out.
This would definitely be the only one in the neighborhood!
American car manufacturers have Gold in their hands if the would developed a muscle/classic vehicles department. Where one can order these classics with 90s/2000s technology ( reliable electronics). With the muscle iconic looks. Like Dodge did with the challenger but like or very similar to the Original vehicle’s dimensions.
You would only have to convince the bean counters they are the only ones that matter on decisions like that.
Wonky rear end
Decent idea and good execution, but the windshield spoils it all. People who don’t know better (like the general public) may love it, but not real car guys. My wife saw a c5 to C1 conversion and thought it looked cool, but it hurt my eyes.
The windshield is almost tolerable compared to the rear view…
Since they never manufactured these and there’s no market for it!
You’re gonna have to pay big bucks for something thats not gonna appreciate in value its basically a restomod!
Lost in translation. I wonder at what point the creator realized that it just was not going to work.
The lines, unlike an original ’69, are just not very elegant, especially with the top up view. The proportions are off and instead of looking designed from the ground up, it looks exactly like what it is, a body designed around an existing platform. I am sure some will love it, I am not one of those people though. If I wanted a ’69 Chevelle, I’d buy a real ’69 Chevelle.
Just my opinion. This is ugly! Does an injustice to the original 69 Chevelle SS which was a beautiful car. I would not consider buy this car at all. Give me the original.
John
I’m a big fan of the 69-70 Chevelle SS, as well as all generations of the Camaro, including the sixth – but not in the same car. Among other oddities, the all-black wheels don’t look right, to be retroing 1969. I just wonder what all those “modifications” have done to the structural integrity of the vehicle. No thanks – if I want a 1969 Chevelle, it will be the real deal.
for that 69k i would buy the real thing. this looks like somebody stepped on it and squashed it
Imagine putting in hours of work and spending tons of money… and ending up with this ridiculous thing.
Couldn’t agree with you more. How can you even hope to sell this. I just can’t see it. Just start numbering the disasters on this vehicle.
John
The Firebird and Chevelle reproductions that Trans Am world in Florida build are absolute works of art, but I’m afraid that this one misses the mark by a mile.
Real easy for me. As one who owned two when I was too young to appreciate them…gimme the 69.
Went to $26,655, 50 bids reserve not met.
I agree I don’t care for the black wheels and the convertible top looks a little strange but I always loved the 69 Chevelle look and I would rather have a standard than an automatic and I honestly could live with a car like this.
It looks like for a kit car someone spent some time to try at least to make it look like not a real Chevelle but a modern tribute to one.
I have a 68 and 69. The proportions on this vehicle with its windshield are terribly wrong! No thanks
The front and the rear look really like the Chevelle. The quarter panels are weird. But If I’m going to drop 65K it will be on a real Chevelle.
