It may be a huge project, but this El Camino is tempting because it’s reportedly a real SS 396 and the seller is only asking $2,800. The seller doesn’t mention if it’s a L35 or L34, but the block is included. Either way this car is in pieces and will need a full restoration. But, with similar spec Camaro values bordering on insane, this muscle truck might be a good alternative for a bowtie guy. It’s located in New Jersey, has a clear title, and includes some extra sheetmetal to get you started. Take a look at the eBay listing here and let us know if you think it can still be saved.
Great FLYING MONKEYS! That isn’t a Barn Find. That is a Tornado Find!
had one and sold it and was looking for another but in better shape than this one
I had exact same deal original ’69 SS396 matching numbers no rust California basket case 100 % complete. Paid $3000 thought I was luckiest guy in the world. Then I sat down with Year One catalog did an Excel spreadsheet developed total cost budget with me doing ALL the work. Wound up with $35k for a car valued at $20k. Not true for Camaros and Chevelles. Sold it for $2800
Had a chance to buy a pristine red with black stripes 1970 El Camino SS454 for 12K in 1998. I lived in Florida and working at a rental store as a mechanic, when a kid from across the street came in to rent a pressure washer for his parents boat at the marina, while getting it ready he happened to mention he was selling his car to fund college. That car was beautiful and super fast. I made a huge mistake not buying it as I had the cash but wasn’t sure I was going to stay in Florida so I passed and I didn’t stay. The one in the ad is a TARP FIND and would be a lot of work to get even drivable PASS on this one.
another listng where a good title and vin plates might be worth something. interesting find.
Yea.
PART of a “Parts Car”.
IF someone needed stuff that his car has… Maybe $1500 – 1800?
Feeling the curmudgeon today…
My dad had a blue one of these years ago. It was a cool car/truck (vehicular hermaphrodite) lmao! I also had a plain jane 69. Wish I could find another one closer to me.
